Neat, educational. Some steep stairs/passageways, but not too bad. It's fun to pan for gold & gemstones...but unfortunately the results won't fund your retirement.

Great time, well done your. And add the gemstones. The $100 buckets are worth it! Large, precious gemstones and tons of them!

It is a cool look at mining in North Georgia. The tour was very interesting. The kids enjoyed "panning for gold". They really liked that they got to keep their "gold".

This was the highlight of the trip. Too tall Tom the miner was our guide. He did a great job and kept it interesting. It was a very good experience and well worth the drive. I think the adults enjoyed it as much as the kids.

Been here twice. Once with family and second time with my church's youth group. Enjoyed every moment of it. The best experience is the tour and gold panning.

"Too Tall" Tom or Miner Tom is a terrific guide. Great tour just the right length! Actual gold panning at the end! Mine family is visiting from Germany and they loved it! Also, the pretty young dark haired lady at the front was great about giving us ideas for local entertainment as well! Outstanding way to spend 90 minutes with great people!

I was very impressed with the friendliness of the staff! On our way to go kayaking and we stopped here based on tripadvisor suggestion. It was just my 12 year old son and myself and we had fun just doing a simple pan for gold. We'll come back with the whole family next time. For the record he got 3 flakes and a tiny nugget (supposedly worth about $3). We almost earned our money back, but the fun was priceless.

This is a great local attraction! It is both fun and informative. Plan on spending some time as there is so much to do. The value for the price is awesome and you will definitely build a ton of family memories! Make sure after gem mining to go see miner Mike for an education and appraisal. He is a wealth of knowledge and skilled craftsman to boot. If you are in the area do not miss this place!

My husband and I went on a tour of the mine with Miner Tom - he was entertaining, engaging, informative, and answered every single one of my many questions. I love learning history and how our society has progressed so this place, with all its history, was a great setting to learn about the evolution of mining. We also did some gold panning which was a fun interactive process. The gift shop was well stocked too. We ran out of time to find gemstones but Will probably be back next year.

Had a wonderful time today! My husband and I panned for gold, gems, and took the tour of the mine! The employees were very helpful, courteous, and knowledgeable! You will be doing yourself a disservice if you don't at least stop by for the tour!!

I give this place a big thumbs up!!!! I came to this place with my camp when I was younger and I loved every minute of it. We went there about 3 years in a row and it just got better and better every time. This place is so much fun no matter what your age and the workers have hearts of gold! I may not be a camper anymore but I plan to go back, because this place has left so many memories with me and it'll do the same for you.

Staff was friendly and informative. Mine was lots of fun and fairly easy.

After an initially steeper slope, there is about three flights of stairs followed by a well lit gently sloping tunnel. The tour guide was very patient with us while taking pictures and video.

Panning for gold (included with the mine tour) was interesting, but a little tough on the lower back. Each of us got 2-4 flakes of gold.

The gem mining is much easier and more rewarding.

Don't forget to check out the baby white bats next to the gem appraiser!

Great place would highly recommend for anyone that's interested! When I went I did the mine tour which includes panning I only got 3 flakes of gold but it was so much fun the time it took was definitely worth it! There are picnic tables outside which worked out great because me and my family had brought sandwiches to eat for lunch. Overall this place is great I will definitely be going back.

A MUST DO IF IN THE AREA!! Would give more than 5* if possible. We stayed in Helen, Ga and after googling for a gold mine to visit we decided on consolidated. It's not too far from Helen and so worth going. You will not see nor experience anything better then this tour. It is reasonable and not only gives you a 40 minute tour down inside a real gold mine that can be reopened any time the price of gold rises enough to make it worth the expense to run the mine again, but also you are able to pan for some gold. You come away with a cool keepsake of your gold in a tube. You can also pan for jewels which we did not. A could we spoke to did and showed off a beautiful ring that they had made on a prior trip. The staff is very personable and so very informative. You do have to walk down stairs to get down into the mine in case this present a problem. The panning was easily accessible to all. The best adventure ever - DO NOT MISS IT!!!
