My advice to anyone thinking of attending CLC is to do everything you can to verify whether the instructors you choose have an ideological commitment to postmodernism, Marxism, or identity politics: look at syllabi, check reviews online, ask current and former students. If they do, I say AVOID them, even if you have to drop the class. In my experience, they try to indoctrinate students, and if you resist, they go after you. Even something as innocuous as quoting T.S. Eliot will get you on their blacklist, jeopardizing your GPA and making you miserable until you conform.

Criticisms of capitalism are fine, but why would anyone listen to a teacher that is hypocritically earning 6 figures applaud Marxism without talking about the tens of millions of deaths that ideology caused? Or listen to a teacher claim that an action movie is racist because a black man does parkour in it, which--according to the teacher--makes him look like a monkey? Or listen to one teacher lie about the etymology of the word "women" to convince students to spell the word "womyn"? One of my teachers once went around the class singling out non-white students, including me, suggesting we could not be challenged on certain political matters because or viewpoint was privileged by virtue of not being white. Another forced us to read a book he actually admitted that he didn't like himself merely because it included gay sex scenes and he thought it was important that we be exposed to that.

Way too many of these teachers (particularly in the humanities) are obsessed with identity politics and victimization, and even as a liberal, it was difficult to get through that. I can only imagine what it was like to be a conservative at this school. It's fine to have one's ideas challenged, but to foster such an environment where students are afraid to speak their mind for fear of retaliation and being labeled with an epithet is wrong. Why would a community tolerate a college where political correctness trumps free speech and discussion? Why would anyone go into debt to fund this kind of one-sided, anti-Western thinking?

Parents, I recommend that you take the time and talk to your kids about their classes. There are good teachers at CLC, even great ones, whose aim is simply to educate. Then there are ideologues, recruiting for the culture war. College is a great time for learning new things and expanding one's mind; it is wasted on indoctrination.

The new CLC remodel looks great, modern, lots of light, very clean and inviting.

Many areas to study. I'm happy they littered the place with chairs and tables. Feels a lot like an University.

In fact it's even better than the University I transferred to.

The place has security as well, which is nice. Everyone is just so nice as well, holding doors open regardless of who you are.

Parking lots always have room even when busy. The place is more inviting than it ever was. I hope they remodel the upstairs library as well.

Great school with some amazing teachers. But there are some duds mixed in so make sure to use ratemyproffessor. Administration can be a complete mess to keep notes.

I still go back and take classes just for interest.

Place has recently remodeled and beautiful. Always offering new courses and degrees. The job center is no longer here as of my review.

Some decent professors and advising/counseling staff, but they are shady with their fees and pricing (I guess that's a result of the state budget, so they try and make up for it on your end). Make sure you withdraw properly because they will still charge you for class if you do not--classes that you never attended. I would not go back to this school based on the amount of money I was charged for a semester I did not attend.

It's a nice college. Definitely nicer than some of the other community colleges. However, the book system is absolutely ridiculous. All of the classes' books are set up so you HAVE to buy it from clc. Then, they charge ridiculous prices. My sister is taking 5 classes at Loyola and I'm taking 4 classes. My books were about 200$ more. They don't seem to care that the main reason people go to a community college is price. A little annoyed on how they have a monopoly on the books and the students can do very little about it.

I currently attend this community college and think it's great. Practically everything, and I mean it, is a learning experience. You get a good education and most of the students, if not all, are pretty mature. Considering they exceed the age group I'm use to being around in an academic environment. Also, the assignments are challenging, but interesting, and if you work hard enough, you can receive a good grade. It's definitely possible to fail, regardless of how smart you are or what your grades were in previous school years. So put your effort into it, and do the best you can! As for the people, they're nice, and are great persons to be around, I have no problems with them. Overall, CLC is a great college that seems to operate like the "adult world," meaning it'll do things such as teach you responsibility. I'd recommend this place to anyone. Although their experience may not be like mine, and they'll have to conjure their own judgment(s); but I think it's still worth checking out! ( Note: You don't have to attend. If you feel it's worth the try though, go for it. See how much you like it. Just because I recommend it, doesn't mean you have to go to any campus )
