Dr. Buttke is a wonderful, gentle person. Great bedside manner and a pleasure to be around. He gets 2/5 stars because of his office manager, his wife. She is a financial nightmare. You have to pay up front for services provided, as you do with most endodontists, not a big issue. So I paid up front with care credit and got my root canal. I was told my insurance would be filed and I would be reimbursed any amount that my insurance picked up. Awesome, sounds great right? Wrong. I had my root canal done 11/9/15, so about mid way through December I checked my claim status, I waited due to the holidays. No claim was filed. So I called their office to see what was the hold up and I was told the claim had been filed but they hadn't gotten a response. This was bullshit, since I had just checked on the status and no claim had been filed - she lied. So to make sure, I called my insurance company and just as the website said, no claim was filed. I called the office back. This time I got "you aren't covered, there was a 12 month waiting period for you by your insurance, so they aren't covering the procedure." Really? Do you work for my insurance company? How do you know if I'm covered or not? You don't, you're trying to cover your ass. So I called the insurance company back and I spoke with my HR dept, I'm fully covered, no waiting period. So I call back and determine they filed with the wrong insurance company, how? Why? You have my card, it's not rocket science. Skip a few months and my insurance was finally filed correctly and I get an EOB dated 2/9/16. So I called the office today, 3/9/16 to see when I'd get my reimbursement check. The office manager tells me "oh, you weren't approved by your insurance, remember you had the 12 month probation period. I voided the check and returned it." You did what? Are you serious? Are you that stupid, how are you breathing? Are you breathing? Why would my insurance company issue you a check and provide me with an EOB if I was denied? Oh, and did it not cross your mind to call me, the patient, to inquire about the check? No, you just voided a check for over $700 and didn't think I might want to know about it. That's my money. My insurance company fixed it, they have issued me a check, but I just want to warn future patients and maybe current patients. Keep an eye on your claims and your money, they lie about filing claims, they don't file correctly, they are real shady when it comes to your money. Big red flags there, insurance fraud case waiting to happen. I think the BBB may get a call from me shortly.
