Cool mine ruins and great hiking. Get to the top for some fantastic views.
So awesome, you can still find some bits and peices of copper
Found a good amount of copper for our first time looking.
Great adventure!!
Lots of history here if you know where to look. There are some old rock piles laying around to pick through if you're into that. They recently remediated some of the creek to its former course before it was buried in mine tailings. The site gets a lot of traffic, both from tourists, locals on ATVs, and students from Michigan Tech. It's no wonder with the great view from the top!
It is possible to drive up most of the way in the summer, otherwise it can be a moderately difficult hike up the face of the cliff. The road isn't fully plowed in the winter so be prepared to walk. You will have to cross a little stream that can be a little wide in some places so know what you are getting into. The view from the top is incredible, and you can actually see BoHo on a good day. There are some good spots to camp there as well
An awesome part of Michigan history. I could go again and again.
