Really enjoy the sermon by Jeremy and I finally enjoy church, only issue is there music is much to loud and I wear ear plugs for each worship. Also I don't know how this affects new borns and young children that I see parents bring there, I'm 58 and again it's to loud for me, I have to think this can't be good for these new borns and young children ears.

Love my church. Every time I'm in there no matter the number of people, I feel like God is speaking directly to me. The only drawback is finding a life group that fits my needs, it has been a struggle for 2 years.

So, first of all let me just say, this church's whole thing is that they're a "family church," yeah, I am about to prove exactly why you'll want to take your fam anywhere BUT here.
My family and I attended this church this past summer after being invited by friends of ours who had recently started attending Rockford First. (Which our friends who I will not name have had many, many issues there and so no longer attend.) Our very first impression of the church was just after we had walked in, we were walking down a hall with our friends who had invited us when my girlfriend mentioned to me that the gentlemen who had just turned the corner and was walking toward us was the high school pastor I believe his last name is Rush (I remembered it because it makes me think of football.) Anyway, quite literally the entire length of the hallway as this gentleman, who is supposed to be a leader and a person representing this church, was walking, his face was completely stuck in his phone. We were not the only group of people he passed either. Not a great 1st impression when a pastor can't look up for 2 seconds and say good morning. So, in we go to the service. SooooooI'm pretty certain the pastor came in with a body guard???? I could be wrong about that but we were seated very close by and the pastor and his wife came strolling in (late may I add. but, I'm sure they think they're too good to spend time greeting those that pay their salaries.which was obvious to me as shown by the youth pastor's example when we arrived) with some big dude acting like a secret service wanna be. That right there showed me how insanely large the ego of this pastor is. I mean, security?? He's a pastor some famous person who has to worry about wild and crazy fans. Worship started and the singing was great musicians were great. And we probably would have been able to actually get into the worship had we not sat so close to the front where we could see the pastoral team. It was literally like a repeat of our morning experience on steroids. Not even halfway through the first song and every single person in the front row has their face in their phone. Do you have any idea how distracting that is for people directly behind who are trying to worship? The preaching was good.so my husband decided we would give it another try. This week is when we had the last straw. After service when we came to pick up our middle child, he was visibly upset. So, I, of course, asked him what was wrong..he wouldn't tell me until we left the class.., so as soon as we left I stopped and my son told me a boy and his friends had been picking on him. He described to me what had been happening, and it was not acceptable. I asked him if he had told one of the workers and he said he had but that they didn't do anything to fix the situation, so after getting a description of the boy in question (and being told by my girlfriend that he was actually the song leaders son), I went back in and approached one of the workers to discuss what had happened. After being talked to as if it was no big deal, as I was walking out, I turned to see the very worker I told messing around and being fun with the boy who had done the bullying. Clearly, because he was a pastor's son, it didn't matter. And to make matters worse, I was told this kid has a strong pattern of this behavior with children. Clearly at this church, you may bully and harass all you wish as long as your a pastor's kid.
My girlfriend was telling me of how hypocritical the pastors there are. Her daughter was straight up humiliated at a camp program during the summer because she wore a 2 piece and was made to wear a cover (seriously?!?), yet she showed me how the pastors wife and the youth pastors wife with her daughter post pics on social media of themselves in bikinis.. because that isn't hypocritical🤔🤔.response / report this review -
