I found Gesu Church to be clearly recognized as one blessed by Our Heavenly Father to ensure God's message, given to us through his son, Jesus the Christ, is not silenced. Gesu’s doors are clearly open to all people, from all walks of life, including students attending college to professionals on their lunch hour. As an observer, it is clear that the parishioners include students, downtown residents, various wealthy and established individuals, and disadvantaged people, seeking a place that they know they will be comfortable in their prayers. Overall, over the years I have found when I have on occasion attended Gesu, I have found people there that are very established in their faith to those still asking the Holy Spirit to work within them so they may embrace the freedom given by Jesus Christ.

Have been coming to this church for twenty years. Both the chapel downstairs and the upstairs church are beautiful. Confessions before Mass. Diverse crowd.

I had the privilege of being pastor of Gesu. Its mood changes daily with sunlight or shade. The German stained glass is outstanding, the architecture is soaring. Yet in all that there is a feeling of 'home.' I think the most unique piece of art inside the church is the Pieta, Mary receiving the dead body of her son. In no other sculpture that I know of is Mary NOT touching the body of her son. The shock and angst are clearly written on her face.
