ON DECORATING. "I always begin a room with the rug; it is literally the foundation of the space. I then go on to the furniture."
ON MODERN LIFE. "One can’t help but be a bit melancholy when you see how the world has changed, and I don’t mean that nostalgically. Every day one is confronted by words and visions of human misery. You would have to have a heart of ice not to be a bit melancholy."
ON HER TASTE. "If I really can be said to have a personal style, I think it is reflected in my taste for the exotic and the unexpected. I like to create rooms which are essentially traditional—and then add touches of the bizarre and the delicious."
ON PARIS. "When you see some sun, Paris is the most beautiful city in the world. It brings tears to your eyes.''
We’ve gathered up some favorite Portland woman-owned shops and services into one delicious event. Come browse, get advice, enjoy teas and treats, or just hang out and savor the electric energy. Goodie bags for the first 20 visitors, compliments of Alima Pure! Teri will be sampling her marvelous, intriguingly-named teas. Daniela will bring her enthusiasm and masterfully-chosen small items. Meri will spoil us with her nationally-acclaimed kitchen accessories. Karen will share insights from her chiropractic practice. Christiane will gush about rugs, pillows and other textiles. Libby will tempt everyone with her fabulous footwear. Virginia will discuss the current Portland housing market. Emily will showcase luxurious European lingerie and sleepwear. Malia will offer her unique jewelry and adornments. Marisa will present organic bedlinens with personality and style.
So cozy at the rug shop when it snows outside!
Complete cuteness overload!
These guys know how to enjoy a stack of rugs!
What a lovely combination! A traditional persian pattern and a Mesa pattern. Both designs go back to the same roots. Happy to tell you all about it here at the gallery. www.christianemillinger.com
Four of the companies I have the privilege to work with won international design awards at Domotex this year. I am so happy to work with all these masters! One of them is Zollanvari John. I have purchased rugs from them now nearly 25 years. This year is very special, as Mr. Reza Zollanvari's son has joined his father working in their family business!
Rug cuties! Michael Christy and Jurgen Dahlmanns
