My family and I ate here last Saturday and it was wonderful! We purchased a groupon and made reservations online. The manager called within 48 hours and we set up the time. Did the groupon tasting the lady who did the tasting was very knowledgeable about the wines. She explained that they were one of the only working wineries in the mid-west. Which to me is really interesting. I also COMPLETELY understand why you need reservations, they take time to prepare a large cheese tray and take the time to walk you through all the wines. For dinner I had the ribs with the homemade bbq sauce, so yummy! We had a great time sitting in front of the fireplace all night and will most definitely be back.

Absolutely horrible customer service. I called 5 times in an effort to schedule a reservation for a wine tasting (which was "required" with my Groupon). It was just a wine tasting, not a dinner reservation, and every single time they were "sold out" for the day we wanted to come in. I also left 3 messages (though I called during business hours), and sent two emails to reservations / info to try to schedule. I never received a return call / reply from ANY of my attempts to reach them. Nothing. I have visited many wineries - including some of the best in California, and I have never needed to make a reservation just for a tasting. Most vineyards are happy to accommodate walk-ins. Why? Because they make money! People try the wine, and if they like it, they will most likely take home a bottle (or 12!). Requiring a reservation for a tasting is ridiculous, and not responding to customers who attempt to make the "required" reservation, is completely inexcusable.

This winery does have some redeeming qualities, but they are below average overall. We bought a Groupon for a wine tasting package. Here were our likes and dislikes:

    LIKES:
    -Nice scenery
    -Comfortable interior setting
    -Giant fireplace
    -Calming music
-A take-home bottle of wine with the Groupon

    DISLIKES:
-A couple pieces of our cheese were moldy
    -Wine tasted old
-They do not seal their open wine bottles, they CORK them, which left sandy particles at the bottom of the wine
-There was a bug in my water
-Told everyone that came in that they were very busy, but there were only a few people there
-They focused on a wedding that was being set up for the next day rather than the customers in there paying to drink wine

They are too focused on the weddings that they host there, and they ignore the winery side of things. They can't put effort into one thing and ignore the other. I mean come on, you need to seal opened bottles of wine, NOT cork them. That's winery 101. It makes the wine taste horrible. If you own a winery, you should know that. To have to make a reservation, and only be able to do so on Friday and Saturday nights, that is way too much trouble for a below average experience.

We had our wedding rehearsal dinner at the winery. Shelly was very helpful and a great hostess. The atmosphere was casual but very nice. We were in a quiet room where everyone could converse and hear what was being said. The food was delicious and serving size appropriate. We enjoyed the view from the room where we overlooked the pond with deer grazing near by. I was very pleased and would recommend the Chateau for a quiet meal or rehearsal dinner.

I had my wedding here this past December (2013), and I can't begin to explain how impressed I was with Chateau Pomije! We had approximately 175 guests attend, and there was plenty of room. The venue was beautiful and suited our "Rustic Winter Wonderland" theme. The staff is very helpful, and Shelley, the owner, assisted us every step of the way. Communication with her was clear and prompt, and she went above and beyond to make sure our day was special. Prices are very fair and reasonable; there are no hidden fees. I would highly recommend this venue!
