Omg! As I was driving through the Rockies, after seeing an elevating sign that read "elevation 14,xxx" (I was driving too fast to see the extra numbers) I thought to myself, " I feel next to heaven, shortly enough, I see this church, on a rock, in the middle of nowhere! I slammed on my brakes, made sure I had enough shoulder to pull over. I did have a truck driving close, so I did upset the driver by stopping abruptly (I'm sorry sir/ma'am, but I had to stop!). Omg! This church, the sight, is breathtaking! This site is historic, if you can, please visit it! ❤❤❤

BEAUTIFUL Place with an awesome history of how it came to be. Was visited and blessed by the pope. My boyfriend at the time told me about seeing it when he drove by and I wanted to go. He took me AND purposed at the top of the steps. I was clueless that it was happening or that he had secretly flown in my best friend to take pictures of it all. Needless to say one of my favorite places on earth

Wonderful little church with an interesting history
As the name says, this is a stone built church on a rock. The church is beautiful and excellently maintained. We stopped by on a week day and there was a wonderful lady there that gave us a nice history of the church, which was built in the 1930s. There were a couple of truly miraculous things that happened, including one related to Pope John Paul II. Pope John Paul II visited this wonderful little church for a short retreat. There is a picture in the church depicting the visit. It's a beautiful church to spend a little time for quiet reflection.

We stopped to take some pictures and the area was under construction but there is no private property signs posted. We parked in dirt area before gate and walked up hill to take some photos. When coming down the hill. a lady came and told us that the property was closed to leave. I would not recommend going here until the construction is complete. The church is beautiful but the landscape around it is awful. There is heavy equipment and everything is torn up. My confrontation with the lady or caretaker was very unpleasant. She could have explained what was going on instead of yelling at us. We were not trespassing, there were no signs. Wait at least till next summer 2017-18 to make a special trip here.
