Our primary objective as a PTO is to provide our schools with funds, programs, resources and services that will enrich and maximize the education of every child. To meet this important objective, and afford services that are no longer covered by our school budgets, we must fundraise. Though it may not be our favorite responsibility, it is a necessary one. PTO fundraising efforts are used to support many extra programs in the school. Some examples include: $600 per grade for field trips, assemblies and other cultural opportunities such as First Strings, Mosaic artwork project for 5th graders, and Poetry-In-Residence. Every teacher receives $150 for extra classroom supplies. We sponsor ice cream and pizza parties for classrooms. We also cover capital expenditures not funded in the school budget; past examples include a snow blower, mops and brooms, and gymnasium mats ($3100). The PTO fully supports Field Day by providing students with lunch and ribbons for their efforts. We also have a Special Needs & Hardship Fund available to those families identified that cannot afford some of the field trips and other fees. Also, this fund is available in times of excessive hardship to gather clothing, food & other necessary items.
