    Roxa L. (Meyer) Freeman, 78, passed away, August 7, 2018 at Florence Park Nursing Home. She was born February 26, 1940 in Newport, KY, the daughter of Frederick and Opal Meyer. She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing bingo around the area. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her four brothers; Frank, Matt, and twin brothers, Wilber and Bill. She is survived by her loving husband or 51 years, George Freeman, her children; Cindy Whitehead, Freddie Freeman, and Ed...die Freeman, as well as her sister, Kitty R. Feltner (Bill).     Donna Joan Errett, of Independence, KY passed away peacefully at Madonna Manor in Villa Hills, KY on Friday, August 3, 2018 at the age of 76. She was born in Hickory, PA on December 1, 1941; the daughter of David and Mildred Errett. Donna excelled in her education, having graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Waynesburg College and a Masters Degree in Library Studies from the University of Pittsburgh. She used her knowledge throughout her career; having ...worked as a librarian for the Jefferson County Public Library in Madison, IN, head librarian in Hilton Head, SC and past President of the Hilton Head Lions Club. Donna enjoyed going to the symphony, watching and feeding birds and being out in the splendor of nature. Her greatest joy, however, was cooking for her beloved family, especially her grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents. Donna is survived by her loving sons, John (Chasity) Gercken and Jeff Gercken; siblings, David (Molly) Errett, Richard (Karen) Errett, Dianne (Huxley) Jackson and Daniel (Judy) Errett; grandson, Jack Gercken; as well as many other relatives and friends who will mourn her loss and continue to carry on and cherish her memory.     David Mann Peebles, age 84, of Walton, passed away Friday, July 27, 2018 at his residence. He was the retired Superintendent of Construction for Owen Electric Cooperative (for 42 years), and a member and former Deacon at Walton Christian Church. Dave served his country in the U.S. Navy and served his community several terms on the Walton City Council. He had a love of hunting and fishing and was the past President of the Latonia Gun Club. His wife (of 56 years), Irene Spe...ncer Peebles; brother, Ken Morris; and sisters, Theora Locke and Juanita Morris preceded him in death. He is survived by his children, David S. Peebles (Lisa), Clifford R. Peebles (Veronica), and Gregory A. Peebles (Peggy); sisters, Pat Stine (Don) and Naomi Spegal; grandchildren, Catelyn Boone (Patrick), Jessica Spencer (Robert), Gregory G.     Alexander “Alex” Robert Brashares, age 22, of Independence, suddenly passed away on July 13, 2018. He was born on May 12, 1996 in Cincinnati, OH to Donald Brashares and Elizabeth Ivey. Alex worked for Verizon as a sales rep and was a 2014 Simon Kenton graduate. He was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed shooting guns, cheering on the Florida Gators and Chicago Bulls and hanging with his friends. Alex loved being a big brother to Colton and was the apple of his eye.     Millard A. Shaw, Jr., age 78 of Independence, KY, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood. Completely blind at the age of 5, Millard stayed active around his property over the years including walking and other activities. He always maintained a positive gentle spirit and loved his family. Millard was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. His parents, Millard A. Shaw, Sr. and Anne Mae Brummett Shaw; sisters, Pauline Dyer, Cecil Shaw, a...nd Dorothy Sanders; and brothers, Joe Shaw, Calvin Shaw, and Chester Shaw, all preceded him in death.     Betty Morgan, age 75, of Florence, passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood. She was born on July 14, 1943 to the late, Green and Maggie Morgan. Betty retired 7 years ago from SKF Bearing Company and she attended Florence United Methodist Church in recent years. She was a social butterfly who enjoyed scrap booking, playing bunco and cards with her friends, Bible study and was an avid UK basketball fan. Betty truly found pleasure in talking to ...people, reading and having meals with her family. Betty is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Earl and Ray Morgan; grandson, Jimmy Hendricks; great-grandson, Carson Tolliver and her daughter, Angela Hendricks.     Shelvia Jean (Helton) Engle, age 75, of Independence, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood. She was born to the late, Clyde and Laura Helton, on March 2, 1943 in Barbourville, KY. Jean retired as a teacher from Batavia Elementary School and attended Immanuel Methodist Church in Lakeside Park, KY. She enjoyed reading and researching her genealogy, shopping and never missing out on a sale, but her greatest joy was spending time wit...h her beloved family and grandchildren. Jean was very involved with her church by helping with the Sarah Circle and Happy Loafers. She will be dearly missed by her “Lunch Bunch” ladies, who she engaged with monthly. Jean is survived by her husband of 52 years Delbert Engle; daughter, Theresa (Mike) Baker and son, Mike Engle; grandchildren, Trey, Allison, Abby, and Trent Baker and Porter and Davis Engle.     Steven H. Collins, of Union, KY passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY at the young age of 52. He was born in Covington, KY on July 5, 1966; the son of Harold and Billie Collins. Steven enjoyed watching the University of Kentucky basketball, as well as playing and coaching sports. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his cherished family. Steven was preceded in death by his father, Harold Collins and a sister, Cheryl Ann ...Collins. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Deanna Collins; children, Kaylyn Nicole (Chris Clark) Collins, Austin Jameson “A.J.” Collins and Steven Hunter Collins; mother, Billie Collins; siblings, Kathy (Paul) Ecklar, Tim (Kathy) Collins and Vickie (Steve) Luhring; a soon to be granddaughter on the way, Karsyn Nicole Clark; four-legged and faithful friends, Gunner and Toby; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who will mourn his sudden loss and cherish his lasting memory.     James Lee Allphin, of Sanders, KY passed away at Robby Rex VA Medical Hospital in Louisville, KY on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at the age of 94. He was born in Verona, KY on April 17, 1924; the son of Harry and Daisy Allphin. James served in the United States Navy during WWII, had worked in maintenance for the Walton Public Schools and was a member of Paint Lick Baptist Church in Warsaw, KY. He was a jack of all trades and was very handy, enjoying woodworking and fixing things. J...ames was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Allphin; son, Larry Allphin and two brothers, Jack Allphin and Harry Allphin. He is survived by his sisters, Bonnie Jacobs, Mary Eva Massie and Glenna (Don) Rice; granddaughters, Jennifer (Troy) McCubbin, Lyndie Zembrodt and Luann Lord; great-grandson, Andrew McCubbin; as well as many other relatives and friends who will mourn his loss and carry on his memory.     Michael Thomas Mulcahy, age 56, of Erlanger, KY (formerly of Verona, KY), passed away surrounded by his cherished family on Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH. A graduate of Boone County High School and the University of Kentucky, he was a Certified Dental Technician for over 30 years, the owner of Modern-Tech Dental Lab in Florence, KY, and attended Christ’s Chapel Church in Erlanger. Mike enjoyed sports, especially watching NASCAR, the Pittsbur...gh Steelers, and U.K. basketball. Previously, he coached in the Boone County Pee Wee Football League. His love of life and passions extended to other things including being Poppi to his four grandchildren, fishing, drinking White Castle coffee, cars and motorcycles, and watching movies. He took great pride in being a good provider and family man. Mike is survived by his wife (of 35 years), Cindy Rabe Mulcahy; daughters, Dr. Erin Tuemler (Matthew) and Tara Terrell (Jason); parents, Jack and Patricia Mulcahy; brothers, Kevin Mulcahy (Pam) and Andy Mulcahy; and grandchildren, Eleanor Tuemler, Boden Tuemler, Isaiah Terrell, and Emersyn Terrell.     Brenda Kay King, age 66, of Florence, KY, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood. She was a retired Tax Examiner for the I.R.S. for over 20 years. Brenda enjoyed cooking and visiting Sanibel Island in Florida, but her greatest desire was taking care of everyone and being with family. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Charlena King. Survivors include her husband, Richard L. King; step-daughters, Deanna Lyn Collins...
