Nice place for camping. We go at least once a year. Clean. Nice playground for the kids.

I went here in a rainy fall day so, nowhere was there, only my girl and I. It was so quiet, so relaxing that it deserve to go on these dates, because you will find a peace that you could not find in summer.

We had a great weekend in a cabin. Keep in mind the cabins are certainly no Holiday Inn. Primitive enough to keep things interesting, with the modern conveniences of indoor plumbing, electricity, and heating. No AC.

Plenty of boat ramps, since larger boats (bigger than a kayak) may not be able to get from lake to lake. The busiest lake has the kayak rentals, the others seem fairly quiet.

Would stay again, unfortunately there's not a big grocery store within 30 mins so make sure you've got what you need or you'll be paying premium prices at the general store.

Great place to camp, hike, and kayak! I've camped at both the rally and primitive campsites and had a good experience. The main boat launch and rental is in the middle of the "chain", so we'll usually pick one side of the chain to kayak. Hiking here is great too, especially when fall colors are peaking. Glad we have a spot like this so close to Fort Wayne!

Beautiful park and lakes. Canoeing was fun and easy to maneuver through the lakes. Trails are marked and easy to read. Maps along the way help too. Sites are clean.

One of my favorite places to camp. I also feel safe & relaxed. Even when the raccoons come checking all around the camp site after dark, checking that we may have left them a little snack lol. BTW do not leave them any snacks or food to eat!

The park has much to offer but cannot give it five stars for the campground. The bathrooms were not well maintained during our two day visit. Had to drive between all of them to find one where the men's bathroom had a non - plugged /working toilet that didn't have visible fecal matter on the floor or the stall walls. Have heard such great things, I suspect we may have hit it at a bad time. Boat rentals were great. Campsite was decent size. General store well stocked (but like all convenience stores, pricey). Firewood was available and our fire pit was recently cleaned and ready.

Stuck between four and five stars, but it's a good big park. We stayed in a cabin for a night and it was nice. I would do it again, but I hope I don't hear a mouse chewing away in the kitchen again or see mouse droppings by the window. Its a cabin, out in the woods, and April. What do you expect? Would like to see the price drop though considering there are no linens, towels, and stuff kept falling from the ceiling onto the bed. We walked a lot of trail 6 and it was perfect for two adults and a four and two year old. We've gone to other state parks like Turkey Run or Hocking Hills that are just two dangerous for young children. This trail at chain-o-lakes was easy and the kids could pretty much run and explore. You could also see where in really muddy areas on the trail they had put down some rocks to make it easier for walkers. There are also many other trails as the park is huge, but we only did one. There are fire pits, grills, and kid parks throughout the park. I recommend checking it out.

I booked cabin #1 a year in advance. A DAY before we were to come they called and said the cabin was closed for repairs. People were coming in from Florida. Of course, all the other cabins were full since it was high season. We missed one day of the week, but they put us in another cabin for 3 days. Then we had to pack up and move everything to another cabin for the remaining 3 days. Not fun. But the park is great. People were apologetic and nice. Could have used some help carting everything to the new cabin though.

This is a great campground. It is very naturally beautiful with lots of opportunities to experience the outdoors with canoes, hiking trails and whatnot. It is pretty reasonably priced as well. It will have all the amenities you would expect from a campground such as a general store.
    Great camping experience!
