This school's staff needs further training and the school needs help period!! They are completely unorganized. The employees are unprofessional when it comes to organization and getting back to people about financial aid and fixing issues within the dorms. The doctor's office is also unprofessional and hard to talk to as well. Dr Matthews is rude at times and talks to students as if they are ignorant. She only apologizes after you correct her behavior. If you have a concern and address your issue to Dr. Matthews in a calm and professional manner, she takes what you are saying personal instead of properly investigating the issue. She has also told a student that they can take their health insurance card and go somewhere else. This was because the student said they've received inadequate treatment twice and wanted a second opinion from her (Dr Matthews) since she is a doctor, instead of the nurse that gave them the run around more than once. Plus, Dr Matthews has expressed that Central State does not have the funds to test students for certain health concerns. Even Wilberforce University had better medical testing than this school, they had pap smears and lab testing (hbcu across the street from central) The college president barely shows her face on this campus either, I have yet to have seen her or met her. I also had to fight for six months to have my items replaced that was taken out of dorm without my consent. I also had to fight to get the other half of my scholarship because the paperwork and rules were not clearly addressed. I had to constantly fight to get help and to have things change and I am just a transfer student. Only been here for six months. Some people have good experiences here and some do not. I am an older student and has worked with companies and businesses beforehand. So when it comes to professionalism and furthering assisting people with concerns, I've noticed that Central State needs a lot of improving. I've even witnessed during the month of January gun violence on this campus. I recommend traveling further south to another HBCU for a better black college experience. 💯 If it wasn't for me speaking up Central State's staff would not take the initiative to fix things. It pisses me off. The truth is the truth and I know a few staff members personally who agreed with me and witnessed my claims as well. Most of their students are juniors and seniors and cannot properly read or type a paper (witnessed this personally). How is central State even passing them along? Security isn't great here either. It is so easy to have someone live in your dorm that doesn't go here without getting caught, especially in the Honors dorm. There is no security, and checking for ids, I could easily have a gun and walk there as long as a student lets me inside. My college needs a new plan and better administration. This is not improving, nor setting students up for furthering their success. I am personally frustrated with this school. I had to fight to get my items replaced for six months because a contractor they had hired went into my dorm without my permission and threw all my items out of my room without proper permission or notification. It took Central State six months just to help me. It also took Central State six months to grant me the other half of my transfer scholarship because when I moved her in the Spring of January, they did not express to be through the paper work I've signed or on their website I was not even supposed to have a scholarship because I did not attend in the Fall, I came during the spring semester. That is understandable but the paperwork I've signed did not state that nor did their website. After six months of arguing I had received my award. I am tired, please someone help my University!

HBCU's are the foundations to African American's. One important fact that remains to this day HBCU's DO NOT LET OUT BABYCATS. If you graduate from an HBCU you are the tops of your class. I graduated from Central State in the class of 1998 and my degree is still paying dividends as a Systems Engineer / Software Engineer. My degree is in Computer Programming Science. The computer science department is one of the few where a student learns six 6 computer languages and takes 12 math classes. Most other schools offer two 2 computer science course and fifteen math courses.

I went here recently for a college visit and it was okay until it came time for lunch we went to the cafe and got food and I decided to get ice cream because other people were getting it and when I was getting one of the student staff members came up to me talking about the ice cream machine is broken and I said aw may bad and then the woman proceeds to tell me that "reading is fundamental " I just wanted to to why she feels as though she knew me enough to tell me that first of all I have a learning disability and secondly other people were getting it so now I know I will not be applying here cause that was very rude

I attended Central State University. My father and brother preceded me in attending. I will be encouraging my children to attend. Best experiences and education.

45 years ago we were family everybody knew everybody. I graduated with a self awareness I would have never found anywhere else. My heart still resides at CSU.
