The absolute pit of all pits. If you have a dog at home you are better off trusting your loved ones with the dog! Hopefully in time something will be done about this disgrace and much of its staff . They need much better laws to protect those who can’t protect themselves .

Had my father there through hospice under respite care for 1 week, he was an Alzheimer's and dementia patient. The place looked nice when we went there and staff seemed nice when first arrived. We noticed they had a lot of people sitting in the hallways in wheelchairs near the nurse station and thought maybe rooms were being cleaned or something. We went to pick him up on a Saturday and found many of their patients including my father in the hallway when we arrived and no one in sight except for the nurse dispensing meds.My father was noticeably drugged up sitting there drooling on himself and had to go look for someone to see about his discharge. After about 30 mins someone came to do it and never offered any assistance to get belongings or to get him to the vehicle. Also some of his clothes and a walker was missing and they had no clue where the items were even tho name was on them. He couldn't even stand on his own even tho he walked in just on Monday the same week. A lady was in the hallway the whole time we were there asking everyone that passed for some water, I even told a nurse there that and before we left approximately an hour or so she still was asking for water and nobody had even responded to her. From our experience there I wouldn't let them watch more than a fish in a bowl much less a loved one.would give a negative star for a rating if I could!

If I could give less than a 1 star I would. My mom was there for post op rehab. Let me list the number of health violations that occurred. Upon her arrival, she was put in the room and no one came to check on her for hours. My husband and I visited the next day, she still had NO id band on and her compression stockings had been removed the night before and never put back on. The stockings were removed despite the MD order that they remain on constantly because "that's how we do it here." She developed a cold while there and had an order written for several cold meds to be given. She received the meds once in a week period despite repeatedly asking. Even though she never received the meds, it was charted as if she had received them all week. When that illegal practice of fraud was brought to the directors attention, my mom was told that she was incorrect and simply confused. For the record, my mom is sharp as a tack mentally and was receiving no pain meds during most of this period. While there she had a post op visit to her surgeon at his office. She requested a copy of her chart so she could show him what her care had been. Once at the doctor's office, she realized she had chart notes for three other patient's in her pack. I'm not sure who accredits this facility but this is a direct HIPPA violation that protects patient's rights to privacy. This is just a few of the incidents that occurred while at Carrington. My husband and I are both healthcare providers and are well aware of the standards of care that were not met. Unfortunately my parents didn't make us aware of most of these problems until she was discharged. Should we have filed a formal complaint? YES we should have and my parents begged us not to as they didn't want to have to deal with it. My review is to warn others of the type of care this facility provides. I hope you will chose another facility for you or your loved one. My mom's biggest heartbreak here was seeing the patients who couldn't speak for themselves and didn't have family available to care for them as my dad did while she was there. Poor quality of care, medical fraud, and multiple HIPPA violations are just the tip of the iceburg at this substandard and dangerous facility.

Had to remove our grandmother as they wouldn't serve her diabetic meals. The dietitian said everyone gets the same (why are you there then?) but offered to remove the high carbohydrate items off her plate. The next evening her meal was: grilled cheese, peas, and a biscuit. The meal ticket said that she got meatloaf too but that wasn't on the plate. So they removed only the protein. In addition, the first night she was there (after knee surgery)she asked for a pain pill and wasn't brought until 3 or 4 AM. Their excuse: the prescription had to be brought from Lynchburg. When speaking to supervisor we were told that emergency pills are kept on hand in case prescriptions weren't available yet, so that shouldn't have happened. Absolutely ridiculous behavior; especially for a place that is supposed to specialize in care for the elderly.
