I love the history here and learning many things about the area in just this one spot. Nice play ground for all the kids and many different trails for exploring. We always have our family reunion here using one of the gazebos
Our family reunion. Beautiful resource. Bathrooms. Pavilions. Playground. Free to enter park.
Nice trails and history at the same time. Picnic shelters are available to rent. Nice playground and sand volleyball court
Absolutely gorgeous lookouts over the Gauley. There are three along the two-mile hiking loop, which is an easy-to moderate trek. The trail is lush with ferns, wild mushrooms (don't forage these), and unique natural formations.
The grounds are well-kept with picnic and recreational areas. There are also historical monuments and markers related to the battle that occurred here during the Civil War.
This is a small scale historic battlefield during the beginning of the Civil War. It is very family oriented. Several very nice hiking trails and some beautiful views of the Gauley River. I would suggest packing a picnic lunch. Anyone interested in Civil War history I think would enjoy the visit.
Beautiful park well maintained, amazing scenic overlook, quaint museum that takes you back in history, plenty of parking, covered picnic shelters, very nice trails must see if you are I the area
It's worth the stop if you are close and you like civil war sites, otherwise not worth going out of your way for.
I love visiting Carnifex Ferry. I grew up having family outings here every summer. I brought my own children here and it's one of our favorite places.
Nice place a lot of history.
Hiked down from this historical site to the Gauley river beautiful place!
Awesome for family outings! Beautiful, peaceful!
