I would highly recommend Cafe Zoma to anyone. We tried a latte, mocha, hot chocolate, and apple cinnamon scone. All three were great. The cafe space offers so much for different activities. We will definitely be going back.
Delicious drinks, very cozy atmosphere. Check out the backyard in the warmer months, right off the bike path (Cap. City Trail) and filled with incredibly unique art and various sculptures/creations. Recently under new management, so things may change I suppose. Hopefully not!
Under new ownership a few months ago so a lot could change but have been there twice since. Overpriced drinks. Like the gourmet hot chocolate menu options. Had a latte my standard for coffee shops and it was pretty poor. Huge head of foam was more a cappuccino, no design, which I don't care much about but I think does show the quality and attention served In the drinks but it didn't taste very good either may have been the lack of milk ratio. We split a lemon blueberry scone that had almost a Baking powdery taste and was so dry that left me wondering if this was actually a 'day old'. I like that they have vegan bakery options and had their vegan zucchini bread which was okay.
The new ownership redesigned the front which is more streamlined and gives more room behind the counter but also eliminated the two best window seats in the whole place. The back seating had crumbs and spills on several of the tables. And could go either way on the oldies music playing.
Seems like it's still searching for its new identity. For reference the old zoma would have only given a 3 out of 5 so not much of a drop off but not an improvement yet either
This Cafe is everything I love about Madison 👌🏼The Gourmet Hot Chocolate is to die for (and you can add espresso)
Great place to meet friends for coffee and light breakfast. I love their ginger dragon tea - spicy!
I loved this place! It was the only place in town that I could bring my toddler and enjoy coffee, thanks to all of the outdoor kids stuff. We stopped in today and he happily ran over to the area and looked up at me in disappointment. "Toys all gone?" I've been frustrated the last couple weeks when I would stop in before work, but this was the last straw. I doubt I'm the only parent who is disappointed that our only caffeinated refuge has been sterilized and made child unfriendly.
Great place to relax with a chai and scone while your kids play outside in the play area.
Pleasant community coffee shop, unpretentious and inexpensive. Good smoothies and a wise selection of alternatives to coffee.
Outdoor area with tables is a great place to sit and read!
Don't be deceived by the signage - this is no longer the charming local cafe it once was. Espresso Royale, an upper-midwest chain, took it over a few years ago. It's not bad, and the back patio is as pleasant as ever, but it remains Cafe Zoma in name only.
I arrived about an hour before Friday night closing, and the cold night made the brisket dinner look like a great idea. The brisket was tasty and tender, with the rich caramelized flavor you want. It could have been a little hotter, but I gobbled it up anyway. The shredded Brussels sprout side was really nice.
I really like their outdoor seating. Good coffee too!
Atmosphere is great here. Love that I can come and work on my laptop. Coffee is good as well. As far as specialty drinks, depends what Batista is working so it's a hit or miss sometimes so I usually just stick with the regular coffee
