The name is different! CLM is for the initials of one of the owners. The "X" is for both of the owners' love of the railroad industry, the next time you are sitting at a railroad crossing and you see the last letter on a railcar is an "X" that means that railcar is privately owned. We are sharing our railroad history with our love of the farm and the life that both of them have provided and are providing.
The family farm was established by James and Ruth McLean in 1957 on historic grounds. Some of the historical sites are The Dailey Spring. A year round cold water spring that used to chill watermelons for the family on hot summer days at the farm.
The farm also has another notable historical site. The Battle of Little York took place here during the Civil War. There are still remnants of that temporary settlement and the battle.
There's much more recent history here too. There are still remnants of what is left of buidlings after a tornado went through the farm. Once a viable dairy farm, closed in 2014, the empty milk barn remains as a reminder of a former time when the barn was buzzing with activity. This farm has raised many championship dairy cows and received many awards.
In 2016, the eldest son and his wife, Charlie and Deb McLean purchased the family farm. Our goals now are to raise quality beef cow and calf pairs, continue growing our own feed, and implement new ideas along the way.
Our commitment is to be good stewards to the animals, the land, and our environment.
