Walking on the Brooklyn Bridge is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful walks in the world! The best promenade with the best view.

Given the length of almost 2 km, I recommend to take only a one way walk, in one direction only, the one that leads from the Brooklyn borough to Manhattan. If you are in Manhattan you can take the A or C trains towards Brooklyn or Queens your stop will be "High Street".

Before starting the walk you may visit the "River Cafè", the Brooklyn Bridge Park and Dumbo neighborhood, do not forget the views overlooking the Manhattan Bridge Best time is sunset!

When my friends first see Brooklyn Bridge they are usually mesmerized by its sheer size! And it is indeed and amazing place, giving opportunity for a great walk and a key traffic artery, connecting the huge boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn, thus allowing several hundred thousand cars to pass every day!
This sophisticated piece of architecture is very, very old. The first plans of building such a bridge were initiated in as early as 1800, but it took nearly a century to complete it. Brooklyn Bridge was officially opened on May 24, 1883. It was been in exploitation for more than 137 years!
What is even more remarkable about Brooklyn Bridge is the views it provides towards both Brooklyn and Manhattan. It is spectacular to see the skyline of both boroughs both by day and by night. The skyscrapers in day and their lights at night are truly, truly amazing!
The bridge is a very sophisticated work of art. It is considered to be a hybrid cable stayed and suspension bridge, and it’s one of the very few of its kind in the world! During it’s nearly a century and a half exploitation it has received numerous upgrades, making it an even bigger wonder!
We cannot imagine New York City without Brooklyn bridge and all its pros!

There are tourists. There are always tourists. There will always be tourists. Perhaps you think biking the bridge is a good idea, and then you almost run down a bride while barreling over the wooden slats. Perhaps walking is more advisable. But it's as gorgeous as you heard it would be.

This very long Bridge is such a special extra for your trip in New York. Just walking over it, seeing a lot of people who are taking pictures and stuff. It is really fun just to sit in the sun and see the view from this bridge, the bridge is having a lot of great view spots, so you can see the one world trade center. It is just a great thing, just walking to Brooklyn get some Shake Shack and walk back!

We took the subway out to Brooklyn and had lunch then walked back across the bridge. The views of the city are stunning. Lots of street musicians and artists - a lovely inexpensive way to spend the afternoon. I Loved this Bridge

Extremely busy bridge with both pedestrians and cyclists (who incidentally get quite annoyed if you get in the cycle lane) but the view is really nice and it is a spectacular structure. A lot of tourists as well - I would advise to go during non-peak times like weekdays during the day. Nice to walk from Brooklyn to get the view

Such a nice place to walk and hangout with mates. There are quite a few really nice viewpoints along the bridge as well. So if you happen to have a friend who is into photography, i would definitely recommend you take them here. Early morning just after sunrise and in the evening around golden hour will make for spectacular photos.

On my trip to New York City, I had to experience the legendary Brooklyn Bridge. It did not disappoint. One of the world's most majestic & iconic bridges. It was a privilege to walk its entire length to Brooklyn and back again. I came on a late Saturday afternoon. It was packed with people, but there still was ample chances to stop and take in the incredible views. I waited until sunset to view the Manhattan skyline at night which was unforgettable. The cyclists weren't always happy with the tourists straying onto their lane, but it all just added to the colour.

The pedestrian entrance on Adam street is a great place to start walking up the bridge. It's a great experience to walk the entire length of the bridge as it connects the two wonderful boroughs of Brooklyn and Manhattan. This historical structure should be a must in your list of places to visit in NYC. Walk or ride a bike to get the true experience of viewing the beautiful downtown of Manhattan, Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty!
