To save my blog, I had to abandon it. You see, five years ago I was a successful book author and blogger. As always, I wanted my blog to be even more popular. But instead of helping me, Google Analytics was holding me back. It was too hard to use and did not track what I needed to see. I figured it would be easy finding better web analytics software, even if I had to pay for it. Boy, was I wrong.Web analytics is about measuring how people use your website. This is hard to do because all you get is a flood of anonymous clicks. The low-end products do not even try to connect the dots.For example, it is useful to know which websites sent you visitors. But what you really want to know is where they came from on their very first visit. Google Analytics cannot show that report.The high-end products produce reports like that. But you need to hire expensive consultants to install them and to interpret the numbers they show you. These products were simply out of my price range.Could a people-tracking engine be combined with uncompromising ease of use? I put aside my blog and worked for three years full-time to answer that question. The answer is yes, and it is called Brainy Analytics.I am not exactly new to software development. I started programming computers in 1980. Years later I earned a computer science degree from a top ivy league engineering school. I also have solid experience with machine learning, which let me implement features like the customer lifetime value calculation.
