DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU ARE BLEEDING TO DEATH! If I could give negative stars, I would. I went to get a spider bite that turned purple looked at. First of all, they claimed it was not a bug bite and tried to refer me to a dermatologist. Second, I went in the middle of a blinding migraine that was so painful I could barely stand. They refused to talk to me until I took off my sunglasses (even though I was crying from the pain) then they dismissed me as a drug user and sent me home with information on how to treat a headache. For anyone who doesn't know, A MIGRAINE IS SO MUCH MORE THAN HEAD PAIN. Calling it a headache (especially when I'm crying and trying not to throw up) is extremely insulting.
I had an absolute terrible doctor for my c section. Said one thing then during surgery he did whatever the hell he wanted. Went back to ask him to check me as my stomach doesnt feel like it should. Refused to even look, just made up dumb excesses. 1 day after having my baby i could not get in and out the bed easily nurses wouldn't come help enough. They wouldn't even take my baby to the nursery for me to shower. The food was so small i starved made it im possible to breastfeed when your starving! Then when i told them i was out of formula i needed more as my baby is crying for food they gave me such attitude! And took their sweet ass time.
Bon Secour MaryView Medical Center doesn't even deserve one star. I have had so many issues with this medical center that its caused stress on myself and my mother. "dr." Nancy Morewitz didn't give me any info about the epilepsy that I was only diagnosed by her. The important information I should have been told by her I found out later by my new neurologist the wonderful Dr. Karim. The receptionist at maryview didn't fax over my medical records three times when I switched neurologists. I felt completely disrespected and let down by them. I'm already going through enough with the seizures I've been having for them to just ignore my requests or be just blatantly lazy. Do not go through them if you're looking for proper patient care. I repeat, DO NOT.
There were only cashiers, no doctor. Even if they couldn't do anything about your illness, but they would not tell you the truth. After some unreasonable tests, they told me: "time would make you get used to this disease". They were just a liar under the guise of the hospital. Their business was not treatment , but making money.
If I could give no stars I would. So last Wednesday I went to visit my friend who was staying there for a few days after a procedure. The male nurse that came to check on her (over an hour after she pressed the call button ) He came in gave her some medication, fiddled with the computer then realized she was empty on her IV began messing with the injection site removed the bandage, left the room, returned a few moments later replaced the bandage, flushed the IV, swapped the bag and left. THE ENTIRE TIME he NEVER USED GLOVES or SANITIZED HIS HANDS. I then see him walk into the next patients room and start that whole process over with no gloves or sanitation on the other person. I have since tried to contact the patent advocate and file a claim. I have called and left messages every day with out a return phone call. Also they also gave her no blanket just a thin sheet for the entirety of her stay (5 days) she was so cold she had the heat in there turned up to 85 and was still not warm enough.
On the PT side, the staff at the location I went to, (Portsmouth Blvd), they couldn't have been any more friendlier or helpful. My only gripe is their exorbitant charges. For 30 minutes of their time, charges were from $175.00 to over $400.00! Even though my insurance carrier was picking g up the bill, I still think they were over charged. On any given day, I would see the same people, perform the same exercises, and the bill was not consistent day to day. What gives?
Took my wife there a few nights ago and it's the WORST ER I have ever been in....so much disorganization, the room we were put in was filthy, the staff had NO CLUE what was going on. Dr. Clarke was not friendly AT ALL!!! They had to draw my wife's blood not once, not twice, BUT 3 times...(admitting the 2nd time was their fault). A nurse came in and ask me who the nurse was...I answered it's on the board here...her name is Amanda...she said I don't know her...went out in the hall and proceeded to yell out her name out...I couldn't believe it.
The ONLY reason we went to this ER is because my wife had surgery there a few weeks prior and they had her records...BUT if you can AVOID this ER you should AT ANY COST!!!
I usually do NOT do reviews...but working in the public like I do I really felt the need to let people know. Don't just stop at my review...keep reading the reviews below mine...apparently I am not the only one!!
I had a great experience.. decreased movement of my baby my nurse's name was Holly .. Very sweet and encouraging.. very knowledgeable
My mother had a hip replacement and she was overdosed by the nurses that were in charge of her care which caused her to have seizures for 4 days until I took her off all her narcotics. Thanks to the good Lord my mother has regained her mind back.
I do not recommend that you do not take your family there if you don't have anyone to stay and watch over them.
My boyfriend was admitted yesterday after emergency surgery on his arm and I came this evening to see him. He was NOT FED ALL DAY, NO WATER, NO PAIN MEDS, the poor man didn't even have a gown on, he was completely naked. I finally got the charge nurse in to ask her what was going on, she stated that he was sleeping all day and never asked for meds or food. THIS HOSPITAL IS A JOKE>>>DO NOT TAKE ANYONE HERE!!! I felt extremely uncomfortable even leaving him under these nurses "care" and will be contacting hospital administration in the morning. This is unacceptable and I will be reporting these nurses.

I had a great experience at this hospital. The staff were so nice and comforting. They did everything possible to make sure my needs were met. I was very pleased with my stay.
(Speaking on behalf of the birthing center) L&D was great, the nurses were awesome and extremely nice, checked up on me about every hour and my c section was safe and quick! They provided my baby and myself everything we needed. Also if you breastfeed a lactation consultant will be there to help you as well. Loved it!!!
