The best part about this place is ambience. The outdoor is just fantastic. One thing I think could be done is a menu makeover. Writing is very small. Although it may seem great to have so many things offered , its hard to make a decision. Maybe down size it some. But so far any food has been good
We were lookin for a quick bite in town. After looking around we decided on here. We wanted to sit outside and eat but there was an unusual smell and vibe here. The appetizer was good and the beer (bottled) was cold. Even though the environment was a bit "off" we enjoyed the evening.
I have been there many times. It's a cozy cafe next to Shepherd University. The food is great and the staff is friendly. Love the Sweet Pear and Gorgonzola Salad! Curt's Quesadilla is also a great vegetarian option. There are very few parking spaces right in front of the restaurant, but there are plenty meter parking spaces within walking distance.
We're moving to the area and we've eaten here several times while house hunting. Blue Moon Café has definitely become our go-to restaurant. Cozy setting with friendly staff - and we always score a parking space right out front. A good variety on the menu and I have had no problems requesting a swap-out/swap-in to make my food vegan. Looking forward to sitting outside when the weather is warmer!
Good, enthusiastic service. The food was also good, and there was a very wide variety. The food may not be as fresh as possible, but I don't think that should deter you from coming.
Great, friendly service. Good atmosphere. The "shroom sub" was fantastic. A large menu, rotating taps, much I would like to try.
Food is quite good and reasonably priced. Have been there twice now. Seated inside once and outside once. Service tends to be a little slow but the staff is nice in general and it's one of the best deals in town. Outside seating is very pleasant with foliage and little stream running through the area.
I wish I lived closer!!! This place is amazing!! Great value for the price. Outside seating area is something like you would see in a tropical resort, not in a small college town in West Virginia. Food was outstanding. If you are ever in the Washington DC or Baltimore area, do yourself a favor and make the trip!! Not to be missed. Wish I could give it ten stars.
Outdoor seating in a tree-covered, rock-filled garden with a rushing stream that flows underground, was the most enjoyable part of our meal. Our food was very slow. The food was good, not great. Tuscany bean bruschetta was too much balsamic vinegar, salad lettuce was mediocre. Roast beef was tasty. We got a lighter with our bill-- odd.
Great Food, great service, great staff
Great price
The crab soup and French dip were to die for!!!!!
I love love love it here! The atmosphere is friendly and inviting and welcoming and the outdoor seating is just beautiful, like you're in another world. I have too many amazing things to say about this place, I come at least 3 times a month! And they're dog friendly!!
Nice atmosphere. Really nice to sit outside under the trees. Food is excellent. I love the quiche, my son enjoyed the pilgrim sandwich, and my husband loved the meatball sub and also the the porkie sandwich last week. Yes, we've been here twice in a week on our trip up and then back down the east coast. We definitely will stop here again when we are in the area.
Neat area and tons of things to choose from. The brie appetizer was okay but they could have had more brie. My sandwich was good but not memorable. It was hotter inside than out - not good in the summer.
Cute little spot with outdoor seating along a little stream. The staff here were very nice and helpful. The food was also very good here. I ordered the crab-cake sandwich with fries. Wasn't too pricey for a crab-cake sandwich, highly recommend it!
Sandwiches are very good and coffee is decent. Kids liked the pizza and lava cake. Don't take hot chocolate though - it's tastes not good.
Really interesting selection! Everything is very good. I highly recommend the Gobbler. The only thing they are missing is their own twist on a classic burger.
OK food, nice patio area, but you are in trouble if they are busy. Wait staff is brusque, kitchen backs up so that an hour wait is not uncommon. I've been told by a harried hostess that it'd be at least a 45 minute wait, and there were open tables! They go from "mellow" to "don't care" in a heartbeat. The issue is that they are not set up for the amount of business they often attract. Everybody loves the hippie atmosphere, but while hippies are fun, they are not good at professional execution. Go to Blue Moon when things are slow, plan for plenty of time, ignore your "too-busy" server, and have another beer.
Food is great! Outside patio is really nice when the weather cooperates. Great prices and family friendly. Will be back.
We arrived, were seating promptly, and had our order taken (rather rudely). I ordered a crab cake sandwich with chips, and my friend ordered a steak and cheese sub with fries; nothing too fancy, right? Our food arrived almost an hour later. By that time, my friend had to ask for a to-go box when the waitress brought our food because she had to leave. Our waitress was rude. Upon paying, we were instructed to go to the register. We did, and, since my friend was in a hurry (and there were several workers standing around behind the register), she politely asked the woman behind the register if she could go ahead and pay the bill because she was in a hurry. The woman then proceeded to put her finger up in my friend's face and answer the telephone, and instead of asking the person if they could hold, she turned her back to my friend and began talking to the person on the telephone. The food we ordered was good, but nothing spectacular. I had heard good things about this place, but a lot of those "good things" had "but the staff aren't the nicest," added at the end. We will not be going back, and will be letting others know of our experience.
