I have been here twice and both times I was tattooed by Ashley probably the best experiences I've ever had getting tattooed. Ashley does wonderful work in a proficient and personable manner. I will continue to use blu gorilla and Ashley for any traditional work I get in the future

My mother and I recently got similar tattoos done by Brad. Not only did he take our idea and create something so much more beautiful and detailed than we could have ever imagined, but he made us feel comfortable and at ease. He's an exceptional artist, and we specifically chose him because we both wanted "watercolor" tattoos and he perfected them. He was very clean of course and made the whole experience so enjoyable!

I had a great experience working with Brad from start to finish. He took my ideas and created something better than I imagined. The tattoo came out amazing and I have received a ton of compliments on how clean the lines are and the awesome shading done. I will definitely be going back to Brad for all my tattoos now and would highly recommend him to anyone!

I've had both of my tattoos done here and loved it both times. I am only nineteen and (especially with my first one) the staff did an awesome job making me feel comfortable and sure that I was happy with my tattoos! Love this place so much that even though I am Columbia now for college I'll always come back to get my future tattoos here.

Two friends recommended that I go here. The place I got my first ink has closed. Price was reasonable. Very thorough & transparent cleaning process. Staff was friendly! Tyler (I'm so bad with names!) was my artist. He did an excellent job with my fiancé's handwriting.

A friend and I had an appointment today with Brad and from beginning to end it was fantastic! The staff is knowledgeable and professional and Brad was great to work with. He was able to put a tattoo newbie at ease immediately and I absolutely love how the custom design turned out. I am already planning on my next tattoo with Brad at the Blu Gorilla!

Brad did a wolf/mandala half sleeve for me and it turned out better than I ever dreamed it would be! I've wanted this tattoo for so long and he made it absolutely perfect! All the guys in the shop were super chill, I sure didn't mind hanging around for the time it took to finish. Great crew! Thank you Brad! I'll definitely be coming back for more!

Had an amazing experience with Brad at the Meeting street location.
I was visiting from Ohio and everyone I spoke with in the shop was really helpful in the planning and scheduling of my visit before I traveled to Charleston.
Brad made the entire experience as pleasant as it possibly could be. He was the perfect mix of professional and fun. His art is amazing and my tattoo turned out beautiful. He didn't rush any part of the process and made sure I was happy with everything before I left the shop.
I will definitely make the trip again to get another tattoo from Brad.response / report this review -

I was in Charleston for my great aunts funeral. I am planning a sleeve of memorials so after the funeral I thought why not just get the tattoo while I'm in aunt Judy's home town? I googled tattoo shops being the googler I am- and called asking for a quote. I asked how much for a 2in x 2in tattoo they said no quotes via phone- understandable. The shop was about 2-3 miles from my hotel so I just started walking and hoped for the best. 30- 45 mins I arrive. I see the sign and approach the door. A gentleman with a beard asks how he can help me. I explain what I want and he introduces me to the man who will be the artist for my tattoo. Sadly- I can't remember his name he has a shaved head, eyeliner, and snakebite piercings. He prints the picture and explains it'll have to be simplified which I expected. He draws it up fast! and leaves just enough detail. I ask him how much and he says 60$!!!! I am wowed he gives such a decent price. I ask how much for a dash of color and some dates added he says no charge- I love this guy lol. So he puts the dates on one way I didn't like it asked him to change it. No problem so nice. Then I ask again for him to change how he wrote the numbers. AGAIN no problem no attitude. Finally I am happy and he begins. He is so precise and fast the tattooing was over in 30 -40 mins. Maybe even less! It was painless (I do have a high pain tolerance though) but it healed so fast and wasn't achey like my other tattoos had been afterwards. He didn't explain aftercare but he didn't need to for I have other tattoos. He cleaned wrapped me up and I was done. Rung me up and I gave him a 20$ tip for being so great. It was not that we had some great discussion or that the tattoo was extravagantly detailed- it was his sense of professionalism and focus that I truly enjoyed. His lines are INCREDIBLE. So neat and the coloring was just right. Thanks guy who did my tattoo!! Even my grandparents couldn't hate on it and they hate tattoos lol.

I have several tattoos and have never made an appointment. I went there to get a semicolon tattoo on the 18th of April. This was a special day for me because it was the third anniversary of my sister In laws death. They told me they didn't have time,even though several people were sitting around doing nothing. They said it would take to long for the set up etc I left and went to Roses and Ruins Tattoo and they took me right in. From beginning to end it was less than 20 minutes! So unless you make an appointment, don't waste your time!

Iron Lotus refused to do my tattoo so I went to Blu Gorilla. Staff was great and Christina did a fabulous job. I couldn't be happier with my tattoo; it's beautiful and is exactly what I wanted. Staff was great and was very clean inside.

I've gotten two tattoos here now, and both with Brad. He is an incredibly talented tattoo artist whos line work and use of color speaks for itself. The most recent tattoo I got was a watercolor fox, that was above and beyond my expectations for what I had thought of originally. He takes your idea, makes it his own, and goes to work. His attention to detail is impeccable. If you're getting a tattoo here, I would definitely recommend Brad.
