We needed to replace and upgrade some blinds in our Victorian styled home. Our plan was to try a company out in one room, our theater room.

After visiting with several companies we hired a Hunter Douglas reseller for some “fancy” blackout blinds. Big mistake. The experience was horrible. Abysmal communication, poorly communicated lead time, measuring errors (resulting in a re-order), wildly expensive, and they were just plain arrogant. They even criticized some of our historical interior design decisions.

When it came time to move on to another room (our master bedroom), we started our search again. After heavy research, we found Blinds by Design.

Blinds by Design did an AMAZING job. They met with us several times. Measured and then re-measured. Provided guidance, examples and even did custom trimming around our wainscoting for the plantation shutters to fit.

They took our calls and promptly returned messages (email, voicemail and text).

They were friendly, honest and very knowledgeable.

They made sound recommendations that were not based on how much they would make.

And they didn’t rush the install. It was as if they were installing in their own home.

We couldn’t be happier with our experience and the quality of the products they installed. We called this phase one, as we have many more areas we plan to add plantation shutters. Looking forward to phase two.

Hire them for your next job. You won’t be disappointed.

Maria and Douglas came to our house with examples and explained choices. Pros and Cons of every example they have. Options of half windows or full opening. Choice of colors. Every size is custom made. Installation is included in price. Picture perfect. Well worth it and lifetime warranty. See for yourself!
