  Last week, our 8th grade students continued the long standing BSS tradition of hosting seniors in the local community as well as family members during our annual Senior Citizen Luncheon, where they served food and performed a variety of song and dance routines.

  Our 6th Annual Giving Gala on April 6, 2019 was a huge success with more than 250 attendees!   Four of our junior high students currently enrolled in the school's "Intro to Programming and Web Development" daily elective course spent a couple of hours after school today learning how to assemble a personal computer. It was a fantastic hands on learning experience. You never know... they might be working on yours someday!

  Congratulations to our Junior High Academic Decathlon team members, who participated in the annual Diocesan competition at Santa Margarita Catholic High School on Saturday against a wide field of their peers from across Orange County. After months of hard work and preparation, our team of ten 7th and 8th graders finished third place overall in the comprehensive Super Quiz category and we also had individual members finish 1st place overall in English and Current Events as well as 2nd place in Social Studies and 3rd place in Writing. Way to go, Spartans!

  SPRING BOOK FAIR IS COMING!

  From March 4th-8th, the annual Spring Scholastic Book Fair will be held in the BSS library. Students can shop during their normal library visit times. Parents can shop during conferences on Friday the 8th, from 8:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.

  As part of our annual Catholic Schools Week tradition, our 8th grader students spent a part of Wednesday morning as special guest instructors in grades K-7, dividing themselves up into small teams with hands-on lesson plans for their eager understudies. A few highlights are attached.

  Yesterday's theme for Catholic Schools Week was "Celebrating Our Students". Each grade was encouraged to wear their own unique class color and students were treated to ice cream by our pastor, Father Tuyen Nguyen, at lunch before participating in a competitive multi-event Pep Rally to end the day. It was a lot of fun!

  We're celebrating Catholic Schools Week here at Blessed Sacrament with a different theme each day - yesterday's was "Celebrating Our Community". Students were encouraged to dress up like their favorite superheros and we also welcomed a superhero from the local community, Officer Matt Edinger from the Westminster Police Department, who spoke to the students and answered all of their many questions about his profession during a special assembly.

  Last month, the entire school gathered to witness our 16th annual Rocket Launch. During the event, our 8th grade students took turns launching their hand-crafted model rockets up to a maximum altitude of 1000 ft. and then attempted to catch them during the final stage of their parachute descent. In preparation for the activity, the students studied Sir Isaac Newton's three laws of motion and applied the principles to the science of rocketry. Special thanks to Mrs. Bonifacio, Mr. Seibert and Mr. Pitoniak for all of their instruction and guidance.
