Incredible! Bill, our guide was exceptional. The kind of person you hope to run onto randomly on vacation. Kind, thoughtful, intelligent and informative. The trip itself was calm, cool, and collected My family consisted of 8, with half being the kids, 3-16. We felt safe with the knowledge that we were in expert company, and at ever turn, Bill was able to answer any question the mob threw at him. The scenery, flora and fauna were described in detail with no hesitation. The flats, the mangrove trails Come on! You just dont find this anywhere else. A special trip, and a must do on bpk. Don't hesitate. Its unforgettable.
took my 3 sons on a guided tour with 2 lovely ladies that were fun and extremely knowledgeable the whole trip. one of the girls, being a local got out of her kayak and chased down many different crabs and jellyfish and other wildlife for us to see. it was definitely the most fun me and my children had together in our whole week in the keys. definitely recommend this guided tour, hopefully you will get the girls as your guide.
We had two, 2-person kayaks for myself, my sister, her stepdaughter and a friend, and everyone had a super time. Bill was the most excellent guide, pointing out Fiddler Crabs and sharing info about the ecosystem. It was the highlight of the trip!
We took the sunset tour in the mangrove, it was beautiful and so peaceful. Captain Bill and his dog are wonderful guides respecting our rhythm, we can see they are enjoying what they do. I highly recommand this wonderful experience!
Wonderful customer service. Dropped off and picked up the kayaks, provided maps and guidance to the best places to go on our adventure. Will certainly use them again.
My husband and I were spending a week road-tripping through the Keys (on our own dime, not sponsored or gifted). After reading a number of reviews online, we decided to check kayaking off our list of excursions with Big Pine Kayak Adventures. They had a number of different areas and options for us to explore and we decided on the 'back country tour' complete with our appointed eco-tour guide, Chris. We also had the opportunity to meet the owner, Captain Bill, and his trusty dog Scupper, who had no time to visit with us since she was busy collecting treats from her dependable human companions around the marina, before heading out.
Chris was a great guide, as many other reviews can attest. The tour started out on the boat. Chris took us around to a couple of different areas farther from the coasts of the Keys than we would be kayaking, in the hopes of seeing various sea life. His crab traps housed some cool critters both hiding in, and upon the contraption and we examined them for a while before cruising around again. We managed to catch sight of a couple Hawksbill turtles, lots of Southern Rays, and a Green turtle!
Then it was time to tie up the boat and get to kayaking!
We went in and around many inlets, through small channels and narrow streams in the mangroves, and only once ran into an area where a downed tree blocked our way and forced us to turn around and head back the way we had come. We saw more Rays, some Horseshoe crabs, nurse sharks, bonnethead sharks (the smallest kind of hammerhead), and even a Lemon Shark who was at least 4 feet long if not more, though this last one was so quick we almost missed it cruisin' around the channel like a boss (with no interest in us what-so-ever).
The four hour tour went by quickly and is honestly one of the best excursions we found on our travels in the keys.
A big THANK YOU to the crew at Big Pine. We highly recommend that nature lovers look into booking a tour with these guys while visiting the Keys!

P.S. don't forget your sunblock!
Paid for an 8 hour kayak trip on groupon. When i got there, the guy told me there were no 8 hour kayak trips only 4 but still charged me for 8 hours. Pass on this place. Waaay too many others
Very chill and prices were great. Only reason there wasnt a 5 is that the O ring on the top of the kayak for what I guess is a storage compartment failed and my kayak took on water. This could have been a bad situation as I was in the other side of the channel. Dangerous, but it worked out.
We really enjoyed the tour. Our guide, Chris, is the greatest! We could communicate with him in Japanese as well. Thank you, Chris!
Loved it! I went with my family and it was an amazing experience. Bill was super helpful and gave great recommendations on spots to visit. Highly recommended!
