We did the tasting menu and had a bottle of wine. Great presentation of each item and fabulous flavors. Talk this place up...your friends need to come here!!!

Visited this restaurant after watching an episode of Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. Food was delicious and service was like a well-oiled machine. Venue is somewhat small so I wouldn't recommend it for large groups. And not really kid-friendly, more specifically small children. Highly recommend the Aguas Frescas served in the glass Coca Cola bottles. Will definitely be coming back whenever in Phoenix

The outside appearance give you the "hole in the wall" appearance. But inside the building opens up to a spacious art-filled experience of local talent with a unique vibe of hipster-local culture fusion. The coffee is excellent and the service is great. Gluten Free options and Pet Friendly outdoor seating. The menu selections are creative and delicious. Everytime I have ate there I have been pleased. Location is away from city center, but if you are looking for a cool coffee shop try it out!

Definitely one of the best if not the best Mexican food in the Phoenix area. Small restaurant had great Spanish flair with helpful and educated waitresses/waiters. All food that was received at the table was delicious.

Miranda was an excellent waitress!! She helped me choose some great allergy-friendly dishes. Her upbeat demeanour made my family feel very comfortable, just like she's part of our family! The food was very tasty and the portions were very large. Definitely will be coming back!

I took four family members here for dinner. I ordered the guacamole appetizer for the group. It is made at the table. You're shown all the ingredients and asked if there is anything you don't want. There are pomegranate seeds in it. Delicious!

I had the enchiladas del mar - enchiladas with seafood. It was good, but not nearly as good as the guacamole.

Everyone else was very happy with their meals. There is a vegan entree - so the vegan was happy.

I'd definitely return. I would order a different entree. If alone, I wouldn't order the guacamole - too expensive at $13 for one person. Not that I couldn't eat it by myself - unfortunately. Another reason ordering it alone is bad idea.

Server Aaron was excellent! Friendly, helpful, cheerful, professional!

Unlike any restaurant Ive ever visited. The fun begins outside with almost the entire block being a canvas for Calle 16. Perhaps the most intense collection of wall murals in Phoenix. A great Happy Hour with 1/2 price on ALL drinks and buck fifty tacos But the dinner menu is where they shine stellar. I know I sound like a shill for the place, but Ive eaten here more than any other Phoenix restaurant COMBINED! Even the table staff add to the fun!

Whenever we visit the Phoenix area, we go out of our way to have at least one dining experience at Barrio Cafe. Don't think traditional Mexican food. The menu is very creative and any dish is going to be different than anything you've ever tasted at a Mexican restaurant. I usually choose the pork wrapped in a banana leaf. No need for a knife. I have had pork shoulder in many different restaurants across America. This dish at Barrio Cafe has no match.

What I enjoy just as much as the food is the attention to detail to everything in the restaurant. The artwork is fascinating, the wait staff is top notch, even the t shirts are unique and high quality. One of my favorite restaurants in the US.

We went to the Barrio Cafe on the suggestion of a friend who went with us. A little 'hole in the wall' looking from a casual drive-by but actually very authentic Mexican cuisine without all the rice and beans filler. Every dish we ordered was excellent per all three of us at our table. The service was satisfactory/good. We tested several of their specialty cocktails and we each enjoyed what we ordered as per the written descriptions on the menu. I feel confident to highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting an authentic Mexico City style delicious meal!

Steaks, sides, drinks and desserts were all top shelf! Service was spot on. Could not have been a better evening enjoying all that Barrio Cafe has to offer! We will certainly be back soon. Thank you so much!

I know the food is a little pricey but you kind of have to expect that when traveling, right? It's in the airport where there are thousands of people in and out every day so it's gonna be a lot busy. Just have some patience, sit down with a drink and wait. You will NOT be sorry. The food is totally worth waiting for. Really.

For anyone interested in discovering great Mexican food, Barrio Cafe is a can't miss option in Phoenix. While widely acclaimed by numerous culinary opinion makers for its food, Barrio Cafe is the rare exception that lives up to the hype. The menu is creative, atmosphere lively, and service is friendly and attentive. Simply put, this restaurant cranks out creative Mexican dishes that will leave patrons longing for their next visit.
