This fuel station / shop / snack bar has got a truck parking, but they do not want you to park there overnight. The sign says: "No overnight parking without permission". Well, that needn't be a problem, I thought. I buy something in their shop, maybe get some food, and ask if it's okay - as their client - to spend the night there. Alas, it was 4 minutes to 11pm, they were closing. Ah well, never mind then, I return to the truck, live off the contents of my fridge.
A few minutes later a car approaches me on the parking lot. The owner, I figured. He/she will probably ask me for a fee to park there.
Well, it was the owner alright, or so she claimed. But rather than getting out of the car and addressing me, she stayed in her car, window rolled down just an inch, so I got out of my truck to hear what she has to say. "This is not a parking", she says, "you have to go away or I will call the police!" Nice. Immediately issue a threat. So I counter: "Well it looks like a parking, but if you say I can't, fine - can you suggest an alternative please?" She reverses her car, to increase the distance between her and me, and closes her window even further - I guess she must have been very afraid of me? - and adds: "You must go now, or I will have you towed!" Gee, woman, I already said it was okay, all I needed was a friendly suggestion of an alternative.. You know, I'm a big friendly guy, and it kind of hurts my feelings that you're treating me as though I'm a threat to you. That you're talking to me as though you've warned me time and time again and I just won't listen - that's not the case, it's the first time you and I meet. I don't know what happened to you in the past, that would make you so afraid of talking to me. Maybe if you'd be a bit more friendly when people are friendly to you, that might help?
Anyway, to reward you for your unwarranted unsympathetic behaviour, have this one star review of your place. May it help you to never have any of those "big bad truckers" on your parking anymore.
