My parakeet has not been well for a while, sitting on the bottom of his cage and not eating. I went to this clinic for the first time and saw Dr. Jenkins. I found him very knowledgeable and thorough in examining Cutie Pie. Money was an issue and they were accommodating and worked with me on best course of treatment. It was decided that giving him antibiotics was best for him, the nurse showed me how to give him shots. He is doing better and I am taking him in for a re-check. I feel that this is a great practice and the staff has been friendly and very helpful with us.

This is REAL top-notch exotic care, not one of the countless dog and cat vets that say they accept exotics so they get the bunny customers. This is a clinic you can throw just about any animal at.

They are very busy and the clinic can get a bit disorganized and/or behind at times. Likewise, the high demand on Dr. Jenkins' time can make dealing with more complicated cases frustrating. However, he is always as accommodating as can be and doesn't seem to begrudge a reminder.

I take my animals to Dr. Jenkins and I recommend him to others as an excellent choice for an exotic vet.

Disappointed, and broke. After many happy years, with our bearded dragon, I called to schedule an appointment to euthanize her. Over the phone they quoted me $35. When we took her in, after we signed the paperwork and took her away, they billed us $100. When I asked why they said she needed a ($65) medical exam. Really?

Dr. Stout and the staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. I am happy to have found a vet who knows rabbits very well and has a great appointment availability. The price for a routine checkup was standard for the San Diego area. We will definitely be coming back for our next checkup!

I want to thank the best bird veterinarian team I have ever had the pleasure of knowing! Dr. Jenkins and his crew at Avian & Exotic Animal hospital have been a true benefit to so many and especially to me. I have done rescue ever since I was a little girl. I remember finding snails on a wall behind my house when I was little and worried that they were going to die of dehydration. I would pick them off the wall soak them in a bucket of water then put them in my moms flower garden. Lol. When I became an adult I didn't stop. I continued rescuing anything or anyone that needed help. From dogs to possums to bats then eventually I found my birds. Then I found out that you needed money to make that happen. I started nursing school got my EMT, then my CNA and in January I will complete my RN program. I stay strong and keep my clinical distance with my people patients by transferring the emotions I feel for my patients to sick and injured birds. Usually the ones that most people don't see. The little brown/black ones that most people complain about. They have become my sanctuary and help me to be strong when I think I can't be. They have seen me through dark times when I felt that hope was lost. I have always had love in my heart for those who have not been loved but even more so for those who have been abused. Last weekend I lost a crow. But for just a few moments he was my crow. I was in a vulnerable place when I ran to my vet begging him to fix him regardless of cost. My vet didn't gouge me for money when I begged him to. He became my advocate and I needed him to even though at that moment I didn't see it. His team helped me to walk through the process of letting a life go that couldn't be saved the way I wanted. I am truly grateful to these people for having both my bird and my own best interest at heart. Today I received this little note that made me appreciate them even more than I already did. I do my rescues alone I don't do it for money or recognition. But sometimes it is nice to have someone say I see you and I don't want you to hurt, I know your pain, please keep going. Thank you so much to my own personal vet team! You help make me a better nurse by helping me with what keeps me grounded. I see you and I know your hurt. Please keep going! I need you so I can help them. (Both my birds and my people)

It took me a while to find a good, knowledgable, and caring vet for my rabbit. Dr. Stout and staff are wonderful!

I have been taking my ferrets to Dr Jenkins and the Avian and Exotic Animal Hospital since the 1980's. I truly appreciate the kindness and understanding of Dr Jenkins and his staff. I am especially grateful after having just gone there to put my old ferret Fausto down. It sure isn't easy - but it was made easier by Dr Jenkins.
