If you're here, then you must share my passion.I'm delighted to welcome you to my virtual home and literary secret garden: Avi's Friends & Other Animals. I grew up in Mumbai as the only child of lawyer parents. My father was a lawyer's lawyer, a voracious reader, and a prolific writer. Our modest flat was overrun with hundreds of books on literature, the arts, science, and philosophy. Oh, there were a few law tomes too. Papa's writing genes passed down to me and from a very young age, I loved nothing better than exploring his library. It was in his eclectic collection that I discovered the peerless British naturalist and author Gerald Durrell and his classic book "My Family & Other Animals" whose name inspires AF&OA.I live in Manhattan with my wonderful wife, Anjna, and our three children Akaash (13), Anjali (9), and Akshay (9). It's hard to believe that I've been a New Yorker for over 24 years. After spending over two decades as a capital markets and M&A lawyer at Skadden Arps and other major global law firms in New York, I founded my own corporate and business law firm in Manhattan, Ganatra Law .Creative writing has been a life-long passion. Writing is my "secret garden."
