Great mediterranean food - music
Great Lebanese! Would definitely go back to try to the table side shawarma.
Omg so good. I don’t like rice and theirs is amazing. Lamb was so tender and juicy. Riz Bi Haleeb was so light and delish.
Definitely try the Lebanese Reds, the second one on the menu was great! + the best falafel I’ve ever had and lamb+hummus is a great mix.
The chicken shawarma is the best I’ve had in New York, it can feed up to four people easily.
Lamb Schwartz
Falafel and humus
Outstanding food. Omelettes and kabobs are awesome.
The Bitches say: B. The offerings at Au Za’atar are flavorful and fresh. While the service has some kinks to be worked out, this is a good option for groups seeking casual brunch fare.
We have been to Au Za'atar twice for brunch and dinner. Top of our list of amazing food service ambiance. Reservations recommended. Definitely 10 out of 10!
Don't miss the cauliflower (the one without tahini!), the makanek (gorgeously fatty and meaty lamb sausages), or the lamb tartar. the mujadara is also great if you have any vegs in tow.
Grab 3+ people and go to town on the mezzes (especially the fried cauliflower). Wine list includes a generous list of some very reasonably priced bottles.
Get a taste of the traditional Arabian French vegetarian dishes. Have the fatteh al-betenjane ($13), eggplant topped with toasted pita bread & smothered with garlic yogurt sauce and sautéed pine nuts.
Brunch here spans from classic French to classic Middle Easter cuisine. Menu includes shakshuka, kafta benedict, and an "Au Za'atar Breakfast," served with eggs, pita, & a selection of mezze.
Robert Sietsema's 2 star review: "One of the most delicious things on the menu is arnabeet mekle ($7), an oil-moistened heap of fried, copper-colored cauliflower with fronds of flat-leaf parsley."
Foursquare tips did not do us wrong -- kebabs are great, cauliflower is great. The pita & hummus & olive oil you get right after you sit may be the best part tho. a bit pricey. I bet brunch is killer
Perfect new York steak
“The kebabs are juicy, and the eggplant-based saltet al raheb, a spicy-smoky condiment, is good enough to eat by the spoonful.”
Awesome service and great food!
Definitely get the cauliflower.
