Arts Undefined by Wendy Moniqué

I am an artist based in Arlington, TX. I have been drawing as long as I can remember. I love to use this talent I've been blessed with. I have been drawing (and selling) personal portraits in pencil and colored pencil since I was 16, when my mother gave me the opportunity to draw portraits for her co-workers. They were wonderful and kept the portrait requests coming! After high school, and college where I began doing CAD... I drifted away from my art for some time. I began my career doing fire alarm and security design using AutoCAD, got married and we now have a little girl who is growing WAY too fast! :)

I began to feel the pull of my talent again, so, after some time away - I picked up my sketch pad and pencil (okay, I had to dig it out of a storage bin) and - to my entire family's delight... I began drawing again! I still send my mom every sketch, text messaging is great! I can still say "Look Mom!" (and even now, she always tell me how wonderful my drawing is!)

My mother is a huge inspiration to me, and she has continued to encourage me with my art. She did teach me how to draw! She showed me how to draw my very first stick figure, and she said I took it from there... :) Where would I be without her creativity!

My husband (and high school sweetheart) is a huge supporter of anything that I want to do, but especially when it comes to my talent! And, my daughter, who is 4 now, is very proud to announce that "my mommy is an artist!" I love it! :) I sit and color with her and show her how Mommy draws, but she's way more interested in playing guitar like Daddy!

I generally draw in pencil, and I've just discovered charcoal pencil art! fantastic! I use colored pencils as well... I've also dabbled in a variety of other artistic medias from clay molding to jewelry making. I've painted children's wall murals and tooled leather a time or two. I have a fantastic group of friends who tend to enjoy putting something in front of me and seeing what I can do. (air-brush, leather tooling!)
