Awesome place to camp. Great owners. Has been a Michigan tradition to camp here on race weekend.
Apple Creek Campground is a diamond in the rough. Initially driving down the long driveway looking around at the group sites I was kind of scared until I finally made it to the gate. My kids loved that there were a ton of activities everyday.
I do not know if they have full hookup sites here or not, but I was on a site with only Water and Electric. We ended up having to share our hookup with two other campers because the site didn't have enough hookups.
The majority of the sites I saw including my own we're already very level and easy to set up.
I would not recommend coming in at dark because of all the trees and the narrow roads.
The only reason I won't give the campground five stars is because of how unorganized the sites were where I stayed. Even our guide who took us to the site didn't know how my site was laid out. When our neighbors got back we realized we had set up our camper on their site.
We tried to have a family get together at this FAMILY FRIENDLY campground. Where they charged each family member $5 to get in and even when we did pay. The horrible people at the gate said we had 1 to many cars parked on our 4 sites and refused to open the gate. Making my family (that had drove over 4 hrs to get there) walk around a half mile to our campsite. Oh did I mention it was over 100 degrees. As each car full of my family showed up these horrible campground Nazi's would show up on there golf cart and harass us about everyone needing to pay and register ect if you are looking for a relaxing stay at a campground this isn't the place. To make things worse we had over a half-dozen open sites around us and were not impeding on anyone else's site
GET THAT $$$$$ out they want it!!!!!
The natural scenery is beautiful here. The campground is decently clean, the playground has your basic play structure. The pool is heated and perfectly clean. However.if you have children, this is not a campground you want to go to. The owners aren't bad.until the part owner, Katie, starts drinking too much. Then she will take upon herself to physically attack a child, pulling them to the ground and rubbing their face in the dirt. That's what she chose to do last night to my son's friend. He is 13. There was a group of kids playing chicken and tag and whatnot in the pool. Katie's teenage daughter included. Katie felt their touching was inappropriate and instead of telling us to leave the pool or talk to the adults supervising, she waited until the child was watching kareoke with a group of children to pull him out to the parking lot and force him to the ground via a pressure point under his arm, forcing him to apologize and state that he understands and instead of calling her ma'am, she was then offended by that as well and forced him to have his face in the dirt and "say my name". Luckily, my children are cross country runners and sprinted to our site to get us for help. When we walked up there she was STILL ATTACKING him. She and I had an argument about why it is inappropriate for her as an adult to physically attack minors, to which she couldn't even form sentences to argue her reasoning. Her daughter stood there in tears begging her mom to just "stop" "we were just playing around and having fun". This is our second poor experience with a drunken version of Katie. The first time is a whole other experience where she threatened to attack an adult while she was intoxicated. What professional business woman drinks on the job? Much less, drinks to the point of inebriation?! Keep in mind, I am pregnant and had to deal with the stress of her attacks while going through an already high risk pregnancy. Also keep in mind, her husband and her mother in law (the actual owners), are old family friends of my family. What a disgusting train wreck. How embarrassing for her. I can not press charges, as it was my son's friend, but his mother is considering pressing charges.
Apple Creek what is an outstanding Campground very family friendly wonderful staff the swimming area at the pool very clean. Excellent prices for each night stay I think we paid $33 a night that's electricity water. And plus they have excellent clean restroom areas. They even have a putt-putt course which could use a whole lot of attention. That is the only reason it got four stars plus $3 a bag ice. So only complain $3 for bags of ice Putt-Putt area just needs to be resurfaced or it would have got a 5-star rating
It's mostly good. Peaceful and nice. Bathrooms however are gross, showers are timed by an annoying button that automatically turns off the water, and the wifi wasn't working for nearly the entire time of our stay.
Very nice people nice camp grounds had a great time
Absolutely one of the best campgrounds I've ever been in, love the place and further more the owners are fabulous well organized and managed with a lot of weekend activities planned, corn hole tournaments, all you can eat ice cream socials, karaoke, Alan Turner & The Steel Horse Band/Hogroast, best damn Belgium waffles you'll ever eat on their weekend breakfasts just a real feel up north atmosphere in the southeastern part of Michigan and as far as I'm concerned if you don't enjoy your camping trip here you don't need to be camping at all.
We recently bought a used camper, and this was our first official camping trip. We had a great time. We went during the week so it was nice and quiet, very relaxing. Lots of trees to feel like your in the woods, instead of a parking lot. All the workers were very kind, and helpful. Bath houses were very clean, hot showers. Wi-Fi signal was very good. Will definitely be spending a lot more time here. Great job guys
We went there this past weekend it was beautiful. Let me start by saying we arrived around 9:30p.m the male owner not only helped us set up but was kind enough to allow us to change lots due to our electric cord not being long enough. The rest of the staff was just as kind we had issues with our camper and they were more then willing to help. The bathrooms were cleaned every single day along with the laundry room. The pool was maintained well and the rules of the park were enforced. All the campers were so kind and welcoming we will be going back every year. We also left a very expensive tool behind and the staff went and found it for us and we went back today to go and get it. This place was great thank you so much for making my 3 children and my husband and I Feel so very welcome.
Let me start by saying the vision of the campground seemed great. It was beautiful there! Once we got settled however things took a different turn. First the "karaoke" they had at night was a joke. The "locals" or seasonal campers were so rude, wouldn't let anyone see the books and were just plain mean. They were like bullies. My nephew wanted to sing a song and the karaoke lady said no because the "local" kids liked to sing that song and no one else was allowed to sing it or they would get mad! My nephew was so crushed we left. Told one of the owners and he pretty much blew it off. He did agree that it wasn't fair but didn't do anything to fix it .. All he said was "that's dumb" and that he'll talk to her. So disappointing. My children said all the "local" seasonal campers were rude. They wouldn't let them play on the basketball courts Would always say rude things when they walked by. Oh and they have no respect for the noise curfew! Up all night till 3:30 am screaming, laughing and Partying. Every night. We made the best of our stay. The trails were beautiful. Will NOT come here again. It's not a campground, it's a trailer park.
