We were travelling from Boston to the Greenwich area and found Applausi online. We made a reservation but were running late. We called ahead and they were very accommodating with our late arrival.
Applausi is in a beautiful setting. The restaurant has a great vibe from the beginning.
Then the food arrived and it was absolutely amazing!!! Every dish from the duck carpaccio special, to the homemade rigatoni al pesto to the veal, perch, and short rib paperdelle entrees were fabulous. The average google review when we visited was 3.7 but if you look at the reviews, any negatives are all about 10 years old. All the reviews in the past 8 years are extremely positive.
This is an absolutely 5 star restaurant from beginning to end, from ambiance to waitstaff, and from appetizer to entree!

Best italian food ive had in the states. Absolutely Amazing. Carbonara sauce is at Roman standards. Italian food at its finest.

We loved the food, which included Tuna Tartar, grilled squid, and ziti bolognese!

The server was not easy to understand due to his accent, not from Italy. Service was a bit slow even though we were one of two tables.

Food was very sub par for the price. The Ossobuco was extremely salty and the "risotto" tasted eerily similar to rice-a-roni. The pasta with shrimp (forgot the dish's name) used cheap store bought spaghetti and there were two shrimp for $25 On to the service. There was only one waiter for the entire place. We had to ask four times for water refills.

From the polenta and calamari appetizers to the signature veal entree and house made pastas, everything was superb including the excellent wine list and welcoming service.

I was here last night and I'm glad to have ordered the Stuffed chicken breast rollatino because it was the best, so good. The white wine sauce makes it so tender and the flavor is unbelievable. For dessert try the Tartufo 👍.

I've eaten here for years. It is our favorite local restaurant. The food is excellent. Portions are just the right size. Service is excellent as well. Even though we don't eat out a lot, they remember us.
