If I could give higher than 5 stars I would! I personally used this program for high school as a young student in the 90's, and learned so much from the studies provided. Even though you are not in a school building, you still have one-on-one interaction with the teachers in each subject, and the teachers really do their best to give you direction and guidance. I loved this program so much that I am enrolling my son for his high school career.

Never had a problem with this school. Every time I had to call for a question they have been very helpful. I could send in exams at my own pace as long as I didnt try sending in like 3 exams in the same envelope, I was good. They do take 2-3 weeks to grade and then another week to get your exam back. Best bet is to continue doing exams anyway and send them in.

I graduated in 2001 from American School!
I started homeschooling because of the public school system. In my town it was failing. And still is. I started my sophomore year. Even with a having a baby, I still graduated on time. I went through the correspondence program. I thought it was Great! Worked at my own pace. I would recommend it to anyone!

So far, it’s been very good. I recommend taking paper based courses, but with the option of online exams. This way there is nothing to snail mail back and forth, and everything has been graded very quickly. But for the math classes, online is better than paper/book. The online math courses are very easy to navigate and the online explanations are easy to understand. All the staff I’ve had contact with have been very helpful, but to have anything recorded and remembered, you must put it into actual writing. American (in Lansing IL) is very affordable compared to other accredited distance schools, if you choose a diploma program. You can pay a little extra for more lab sciences, all online math courses, and extra math courses. Since it is self paced, it is possible to graduate in less than four years. Expect to do your own writing for every assignment. With the online tests, you can write in your own preferred word processor at your own pace, and then copy your work into their website. It’s very easy to use.

I love this school. I do the online program and it's very good pace it's not to hard and not to easy. The teachers for each class were super nice. When I was finishing up my English literature class I had a hard time with the question you had to answer after reading the book but the teacher walked me through it and this is my second year going here and I will continue.

This school has been nothing short of difficult. The grading is ridiculous and the fees are as well. I’ve called the school to no help and no avail. I would NOT recommend this schooling. Go somewhere much easier, like Penn Foster. American School is more like college level classes (very hard ones) while only giving you high school credits. It’s not worth it.

So far so good. Courses are easy and understandable. It takes a bit to get your grades. I think that could be because all the students enrolled.

This school takes FOREVER to grade my work. Then I have to call every single time to ask when they're going to send my next book. Seriously if I don't call them they can go 2 months without sending anything. And it's happened twice that's why I'm saying it. I wish they actually cared enough to send my work out as soon as I've sent back the previous book work.

Overall, not bad. Thankfully, since I enrolled my daughter, they have an online option. We're still using the paper option and it takes up to three weeks to get a test graded. One math book got lost in the mail, forcing us to try to finish the last two math classes in time to graduate before my daughter enters college in a few months. I'd recommend hiring a very good math tutor for their Algebra and Geometry courses. The text is terrible and the study guide is useless. They are, however, accredited and their curriculum meets college entrance standards.

I took an online Creative Writing course, because it was the last credit I needed to graduate. I had some difficulties in the last week, because I needed the last part of my course to be graded and the deadline was approaching fast. I was very stressed and very impatient, but in the end it worked out. The Gradpoint Coordinator, the representative that helped me, and the President were very helpful in making sure everything got finished in time.

Overall it's a decent school. However, many of the elective classes they offer were "unavailable". The online math classes are far better than their traditional classes.

They are horrible and only want your money. They are unresponsive to emails and requests until it is too late to complete the class and then want you to re-enroll and pay. Very disappointed

This school is horrible! The people are careless and unintelligent in their grading. This error often results in a lowered grade. If the answer is not word-for-word, some people will mark the question as incorrect. On multiple occasions, I had to resend exams due to the carelessness of the graders. If you want to have a significantly higher chance of going to college, do NOT enroll in this high-school. This is the worst high-school that I have ever seen. Again, do not go to this "high-school."

A little too easy & slow at grading, but overall affordable. I was alot more confident with letting my kids enroll in this program than in public high school.
