Alliance Jiu Jitsu of Boise is dedicated to teaching Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and is the exclusive US academy of 6th grade black belt Alexandre Paiva, also known as master "Gigi", who stands at the forefront of the Alliance Program.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting with the goal of gaining a dominant position and using joint-locks and chokeholds to force an opponent to submit. It promotes the principle that a smaller, weaker person using the appropriate amount of leverage and proper technique can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger attacker.
In keeping with the spirit of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the Boise academy welcomes men, women and kids interested in learning BJJ as a hobby, self-defense or competition. Please note: This is not MMA style Jiu-Jitsu and techniques will be performed wearing a Gi.
