Native Houstonian Alan Paterson draws upon 30 years of real estate experience with more than 13,500 transaction sides as the responsible broker and 400-plus personal transaction sides. During a long and highly successful real estate career in Mississippi, Alan developed one of the largest brokerage operations in the state. “I grew an existing real estate operation with three agents in one office to a three-office company with 67 agents,” he says. “We were the first real estate company in Mississippi to be listed in REAL Trends magazine’s Top 350 Companies nationwide.” Alan’s wide-ranging background also includes financing, leasing, managing, developing, and building both residential and small commercial properties in Texas, Mississippi, and other states.
Delighted to be back in Houston as an agent for John Daugherty, Realtors, Alan assists buyers and sellers in all price points in neighborhoods throughout the city. He especially enjoys helping clients who are moving into Houston or relocating elsewhere. “During my childhood, my family relocated for a time to London where my father worked for Exxon,” he says. “That experience gave me first-hand exposure to the challenges involved in moving a family, whether it’s across town or across the world.”
Alan works hard to understand his clients’ goals and to structure transactions to meet and exceed those goals. “I like the creativity of marketing individual properties and the personal interaction with my clients. Negotiating contracts and keeping up with the constant changes in the housing market and within the real estate industry are stimulating challenges for me.”
Alan’s real estate career began early. After a brief stint with Allied Bank of Texas immediately after graduating from The University of Texas at Austin, he made the change to real estate sales and never turned back. Alan grew up in Hedwig Village in the Memorial area, graduated from Memorial High School and earned a degree in real estate/finance from UT. His community commitments include the Knights of Columbus and Texas Right to Life.
When not working, Alan enjoys traveling and sports events. He and his wife have two grown children.
