My Favorite place in Pike County!!
Great event and the snow made it even better
Nice little community park
Beautiful, clean park! Park on one side, lake on the other; so much for kids to do!
This belonged to the Sisters of the Good Shepard in the 70's I spent a couple of summers there - I will have to stop by next time I am in PA
A cool place for the summer! Constant events, movie showings, and more! Only complaint is the beach closes an hour before the park does.
Really good things are available, such as movie nights, arts and crafts, and fishing on the lake. There is no swimming though.
Great activities planned!
When I was a teen in the early 70's, the Sisters of the Good Shepherd either owned or rented this property which I knew as Camp Akenac and I spend 2 summers there. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I'm wondering if the log cabins are still there?
Akenac is a relatively small park in Delaware Township that is open to Pennsylvania residents only. It has a lake that you can swim in with a small sand beach area and life guards. Other features include a club house with ping pong and pool tables, soda machines, picnic tables, barbecue grills, and a children's playground. It costs $6 for adults, $2 for children ages 3 to 15 and is free for children under 3. Again, you must be a PA resident or the guest of one to enter this park. Pike county residents are permitted to enter for free with proof of residency. Row boat rentals are also offered at $5 an hour.
