ORGANISATION PROFILE

ORGANISATION SUMMARY /BACKGROUND

Initially the organization started in the year 2011 after feasibility study conducted in the areas of Lango and Acholi regions. The study was about the influence of northern war to the communities of the region for the last 25 years of occurrence.
The rebel group headed by Kony Joseph centered in the north Uganda for the last 25 years, while implementing his rebel activities, mission and vision that led people to loose life and property while maintained in hard conditions and poverty line ,they stationed in camps, where they could even be attacked for mass bloodshed.
The war brought a number of inconvenienced groups in the community like vulnerable people, orphans, widows, widowers and people with disabilities.
Not only the above but also the below resulted from war:-
• Alcoholism (men resorted to drink alcohol) update.
• Child abuse, neglect and women right.
• Divorce (family brake down).
• Food problems.
• Distorted development. Etc.
The community of northern Uganda naturarally and traditionally depended from natural resources almost of her livelihood like food ,fire wood, building materials, medicinal plants meat and place for worship .mean while the influence of the war disorganized the natural resources both culture and belief, case in appoint ,marriage was respected,acholi woman could not divorce any how un like to day where domestic violence, abuse of children , child neglect and other factors are order of the day simply because of the war and poor use of resources .not only northern Uganda but also other countries like Gabon with cases like children not going to school.

Another feasibility study was conducted in the slum areas of Kampala establishing the major reasons for the family break out,Unnessary pregnancy among school girls, Prostitution among under age girls, and illegal behavior in the slums like theft ,drug abuse etc.
The Main Objective for this Research was to gain a general understanding of the livelihoods present amongst the population of the urban poor in Kampala, Uganda and the context in which they exist, so as to form a foundation for future programming that is effective and well-targeted.
Due to the stated research information members sat and asking themselves to mobile resources from all corners for the rescue of Uganda communities and this therefore gave birth to the name, Rescue the world, child &women initiative.


MISSION STATEMENT
To promote health, development and observed the role of women in the society and sustainable the children welfare.

VISION STATEMENT
Having empowered women improved livelihood, sustainable children right and welfare in the society.
Have children trained in different skills for the betterment of their future and communities where they live.

ORGANISATION OBJECTIVES

• Put young boys and men on board in helping women and young girls in sharing and growth capacities to love & nature the biology changes that are taking place in young girls’ life.
• To identify teenagers who failed to continued going to school and equip them with self-care skills, that they will use in future in their family or means of survival.
• To promote health & assist in the provision of safe drinking water to the communities requiring the services.
• To encourage children to participate in a wide range of activities appropriate to their age and stage of development.
• To create awareness to the communities on the issues governing the children’s role, rights, gender issues and HIV mainstreaming.
• To sustain & improve on the child & women welfare especially those with social problem.
• To help women participate in the planning &management of their own activities& encourage to involve in policy formulation and implement the rule of law for the betterment of the society.
• To promote education, sustainable agriculture & introduce culture and art of savings with credit schemes.

LOCATION AND AREA OF OPERATION
The organization have its headquarters in Kampala district as coordinating office Maker ere hill,Gadafi road opposite law development Centre(LDC), The area of operation is basically in the slum areas of kampala s i.e. Kamuhokya,kagugube and Katanga zones .

ORGANISATION MANAGEMENT

The management is made up of the governing body, the board of directors and the secretariat that are responsible for the day to day management of the organization per the delegated role or authority. Below is the organization structure to show the management hierarchy.

KEY POSITION MANAGEMENT, TITLE AND QUALIFICATION.

1 Executive Director, ahold of Bachelors degree of social work and social administration.
2 An Accountant a holder of Bachelors degree of business Administration.
3 Treasury, A holder of Uganda advanced certificate of education.
4 Secretary A holder of Diploma in secretarial services.

5 Chairperson A holder of a teaching primary certificate.


FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

Poor finance control leads to assets being put at risk of theft fraud or office abuse, competence of managers will be called in equation since funds may not be spend in accordance with the donors objective, this in turn leads to the closure of the organization.
The organization has mobilized staff on issues pertaining organization finance management with the experienced personnel known as accountant responsible for financial management in the day to day running of the organization.
The organization has an account with CBA (commercial bank of Africa) which keep whatever monies entering the organization. The account is managed as per the stated articles in the organization constitution.


MEMBERSHIP
Rescue the world child and women initiative is a membership organization that is non-sectarian. The membership is open to everyone in the universe as long as he or she abides with the organization constitution, invites members from whoever wishes to join I.e. industrial churches NGOs,company’s and many others for sharing resources, experience information and planning together . There is no restriction on the ground race like religion, sex tribe and political affiliations.
MODEL OF WORK
• Draw and flow the organization work plan.
• Members build each other capacity through workshops, meetings, seminars and public gathering.
• Networking with individual NGOs/CBOs: the Government and organization partners. Appropriate means of communication.
• Identifying new projects and mobilization resources for them
• Field flow ups.
• Developing a project proposal & making inquiries.
• Focus, openness, and commitment.
• Use of resources Centre’s& resource person.

LEGAL STATUS
Rescue the world; child and women initiative is legally registered at the district level as a commonly based organization (CBO) and awarded certificate of recognition from community development office (CDO) and NGOs forum at the district level.


ACHIEVEMENTS
• Rental offices both in Kampala district.
• Legal certification (from the district) of recognition.
• Opening organization account.
• Implementing organization planning meetings.
• Established two functional adult literacy classes (FAL) in two parishes with credit and saving schemes

CHALLENGES
• Transportation especially in coordinating the activities

• Lack of training of members on about the organization settings.
