ALPO Guided Expeditions is a dedicated Kilimanjaro operator working out of Arusha, Tanzania. Rather than offering a broad safari catalogue, we focus entirely on guiding climbers up Kilimanjaro — on the Machame, Lemosho, Marangu, Rongai and Northern Circuit routes — in small groups with a 1:3 guide-to-climber ratio.

Our co-founders bring rare depth to the mountain. Yevgen Staroselskiy is a Master of Sport of the USSR in Mountaineering and a Snow Leopard title holder who has stood on Everest, K2 and all Seven Summits. Liberaty Victor Mato, our lead guide, has more than 220 Kilimanjaro ascents and holds Wilderness First Responder certification.

Every climb is built around acclimatization and safety: a steady "pole pole" pace, daily blood-oxygen and pulse checks, and emergency oxygen carried on the mountain. We are a KPAP member operator, publish open pricing for each route, and report a 95-97% success rate on our signature Machame Route.

We guide all of Kilimanjaro's main routes: Machame (our signature route), Lemosho (8 days, with the strongest acclimatization profile), Marangu, Rongai, and the Northern Circuit. Each route is run as a fully guided expedition with our own team, and private or custom departures are available on request.
What is your summit success rate, and how do you keep climbers safe??
We report a 95-97% success rate on our signature Machame Route — a figure we keep honest rather than inflated. Safety comes from careful acclimatization, a steady "pole pole" (slowly, slowly) pace, daily SpO2 (blood-oxygen) and pulse checks, emergency oxygen carried on the mountain, and an experienced local team led by Wilderness First Responder–certified guides.
How large are your groups and what is the guide-to-climber ratio??
We keep groups small, with a maximum of 12 climbers and a 1:3 guide-to-climber ratio. That ratio means each climber is closely supported on summit day and throughout the expedition, which directly supports both safety and success rates.
