Emerson Spice is a magical hotel. It has garnered international accolades and is unique in celebrating local architecture and design with a twist. The restaurant has a sunset view and a five course evening tasting menu, which combines local ingredients, in inventive combinations. My room was very comfortable with antique furniture and all i needed for a peaceful night. The staff were friendly and attentive. I would return in a heartbeat.
Love the setting and the back story of this eclectic gem in the heart of Stone Town.
The Spice Inn (or House of Spices) is a quirky boutique hotel. Small attractive rooms with a/c, but quite loud due to lack of glass windows (wood shutters and shades only) and location in active stone town neighborhood. Padlocks seemed strange to lock rooms. But breakfast and dinner here were very nice.
