Description

History
In 1959, in a little rustic village in Taoyuan, Mama Chen started to sell Yunnan-style breakfast dishes. At the time, the village had many people who had immigrated from Yunnan province (in south-west China) to Taiwan. Mama Chen’s home-made food proved very popular with the Yunnanese community. Gradually, Mama Chen went from pushing around a little food cart to opening a small breakfast shop, where her clientele could enjoy Yunnan food.
In 1999, after 40 years of running the breakfast store, the village was being rebuilt and many old clients suggested that Mama Chen should open her own restaurant in Taipei. She decided to open a restaurant in the FuXing district (the business district) in Taipei City.
Mama Chen asked her 3rd son and his wife Nancy Chang, to manage the restaurant and continue to carry on the tradition of 4 decades of love for good Chinese Cuisine and thus, HeFeng Chinese restaurant was born.

Mission
HeFeng Chinese restaurant serves a variety of Yunnan-style and Sichuan-style dishes, as well as He Feng’s original creations. This is made possible by HeFeng’s creative and professional Chef that has been delighting customers with his cuisine since the restaurant’s opening.

HeFeng’s homey atmosphere and decor, coupled with the excellent and friendly customer service, makes diners feel comfortable and at home and is one of the reasons for HeFeng’s popularity.

Many of our customers who come for the first time, eventually become regular customers, who then refer HeFeng to their friends and family, as they not only are sold out on and enjoy our pleasant environment, but most of all, our excellent food and service.

In HeFeng’s kitchen, only real salt is used as a main condiment. We don’t use pig fat oil or MSG. All ingredients are freshly purchased straight from the farmers’ market. These seemingly ‘little details,’ account for the satisfied yet not ‘heavy feeling’ our customers rant about, after completing a healthy and delicious meal. Due to the absence of MSG in the food, there is no feeling of thirst which so often happens after eating Chinese food full of MSG.
