池南自然教育中心位於池南森林遊樂區內，介於中央山脈與海岸山脈之間的斷層谷地中，鄰近的鯉魚山林相完整，加上鯉魚潭水域環境，擁有豐富動植物生態資源，及特殊的河蝕地形，為優質環境學習的場域。此外，本區早期為木材轉運站，保存許多過往伐木、集材、運材等機具，是林業文化歷史的重要據點。
