There are some great views of the ocean but the place has a lot of trash. People seem to use the bathroom outside a lot. There was a smell when we went. The bathrooms were not an option as they hadn't been maintained in years or ever. The lighthouse has potential but the ocean views are the only real attraction. Parking is available but not great. The views have steep areas and nothing in place for safety so be careful with the kids.
A lovely place to get great views of the ocean- especially on the rocks behind the lighthouse. Also there’s clean benches and tables making it a great spot to have a something to eat and relax. The most disappointing thing though was that there’s no functioning washrooms for the public. People are subjected to hide behind the old dilapidated toilet area in the bushes like animals. Quite shameful since there’s always visiting tourists.
The views are pretty awesome here! Great for photos and the water smashes against the rocks so violently that you can capture some pretty epic shots if you time it just right!
Visited on the 6th February 2018. Beautiful view of the waters of the north-eastern point of Trinidad. Would be a bit lonely at times, especially Monday to Friday. The weekend would be a much safer time to visit.
Breathtaking View... However we were the only people there at the time so we were unsure if it was safe... We saw a another couple that look like visitors so we asked if they would accompany us for a visit. They agreed and it was stunning scenery. Just remember safety in numbers when it comes to visiting because we were unsure if it was safe. Definitely worth the drive from Curepe
The site is beautiful. There is a lot of potential to develop it and restore the dilapidated facilities.
It a beautiful place you can see Tobago from there in the night when it have moonlight
Love this place for the view. Some repair and maintenance work needed
Gorgeous view however the Lighthouse is not being maintained.
A must place to visit. Trinidad has many historic and beautiful landmarks
Great spot to enjoy the fresh ocean breeze and picnic with family and friends.
There needs to be,however, more commitment from the local authority on maintaining the serenity of the space. Proper toilet facilities and more garbage bins are absolutely necessary.
The view from here was beautiful. However, Trinidad needs to do something to maintain the site. First there was one bridge in such bad shape that we questioned going further. The site itself is in need a much repair and upkeep. There once was an activity center on site. That was obviously closed and badly in need of repair. Missed opportunity for people engagement. There is a beautiful beach close by where you can buy food and drinks to fuil your stay for the day.
The lighthouse itself is locked and you cannot enter the building. This was a little disappointing, I would have loved to see the view from that vantage. When you go past the lighthouse however and you see the view of the ocean from the top of the rocks, it takes your breath away. The water was a beautiful green, no amount of pictures I took captured it as it really was. It was my first trip up there but it won't be the last.
Sun, sea, sand and metamorphic rocks
Galera Point Light house AKA toco lighthouse is definitely one of my favourite places in Trinidad. Specially the drive to get there and the sceneries are awesome and breathtaking.
This is an amazing national monument. It has come a long way in the last 30 years in terms of being visitor friendly. The original lighthouse has been reduced in size and topped by a modern array.
The facilities have been modernized, there is new seating and covered spaces. Washrooms were added however, in the last couple of years since the beginning of 2014 the place has been going downhill. In early 2016 the washrooms are almost totally destroyed, the benches and the gazebos are in desperate need of repair. The garbage has been building up and the bins are overflowing.
The regional corporation needs to pay more attention to the facility or it will descend into a squalid hole like it was the late 80's & early 90's.
Cool place. If you look very closely you might see Tobago....
Truly an amazing view of the Atlantic with proper facilities for guests. The full power of the ocean is made clear here. Definitely take the drive up and stay in one of the nearby guest houses and make a weekend of it
