A nice experience to see the actual pottery manufacturer along with other ceramic products , the price is slightly overpriced. It is a family business for generations. Nice tour inside the shop with nice products .
This review is based on an actual purchase and experience shipping to the US. We visited Sultan Ceramics in June 2019 and bought several items. We negotiated with the manager to get a discount. The items were shipped to us in Michigan by DHL. We received notification from DHL that duties were due prior to release of items. Sultan did not warn us duties would be charged when we purchased. I won't hold that against them too much since I should have been a more informed consumer. However, on invoices enclosed for shipping, the original price of the items was documented which was about 25% higher than what we paid. Thus duties were imposed on the original cost of the items. So we had to pay a higher duty. My wife and I tried multiple times to contact the manager to provide us a more accurate invoice so we could have some the duty paid returned. The manager initially stated he was on vacation and when he came back he would rectify the issue. It was never rectified and Sultans won't reply to our messages via email or whatsapp anymore.
I wanted to share this experience so others are informed when they shop at Sultans. I gave Sultans >6 months to rectify things before posting a negative review. They are very friendly when you are there and impress you by the pictures of famous people who have visited their store, but they will ghost you if any issues arise. I think you can get similar items for cheaper in the Istanbul markets as well.
A traditional making ceramic shop dated over 6 generations ago. It's products are one of a kind and produced only here in Capadoccia
I purchased a hot air balloon ceramic ornament from this company and the first time i used it with a night light in it fell from its chain and smashed. This item was sold to me as a high quality item. Clearly it was not.
This place is pretty historic where they have been making ceramic & clay potteries for generations. In the past potteries used to be made underground to benefit from the controlled temperature below. The same can be found in this place. Though they now produce potteries the modern way but they still retained the old methods & tools which you can see them demonstrate. Other than that you can either buy & carry their finished products or pay & get them shipped to your homes directly. But to me, the items appeared to be bit overpriced.
This is a family business passed down from 3 generations. Good overview on the pottery making process. However, very limited fine tune chinaware.
Meeting with Mr. Zeki was a wonderful experience. He has a rich knowledge and his business goes for seven generations. His workshop is located inside a cave where he produce the art peices and display it in his ancient gallery. Sultan Ceramics is worth to visit when you land to Cappadocia and Avanos area.
