A large unique mosque in Istanbul It has the the tomp of Sultan Sulaiman Kanoni who built walls of Jerusalem Gardens surround the buildings of mosque where u can spend time observing and thinking of the beauty of this mosque and nature around it.

We caught the tram to the Grand Bazaar stop and then just go straight down the street to the left of the Grand Bazaar.
The Mosque is a 10-15 minutes walk from the Grand Bazaar and passes plenty of shops before turning left up the hill to the Mosque.
Just before the Mosque is a lovely cemetery with irises growing amongst the headstones. After going through the cemetery there is a delightful terrace which offers magnificent views of the Bosporus and the rest of Istanbul.
The domes and 4 minarets of the Mosque also make a good picture from the terrace and we then walked into the outer courtyard of the Mosque which was very peaceful after the huge crowds around the Blue Mosque. The inside of the Mosque was closed to visitors as it was prayer time when we were there but it was still well worth visiting for the views of the Bosporus.

Located on the Third Hill of of the city, it's the second largest mosque. Built in 1557, its architecture has more European influences than the traditional ottoman mosques.
In my opinion is the most beautiful mosque in the city, the gardens, the location and the outstanding sights of the city from the hill will leave you in awe; definitely better than the views from the Galata tower.

As many writers have noted, this is a beautiful mosque that gets only light tourist traffic. I visited on a Sunday morning and there were only a couple dozen tourists. It has been recently restored, so all the colors are vibrant. It has a great view of the Bosporus as well.

I really enjoyed visiting this nice place. The building looks nice from every angle. This place is a must see tourist attraction. No ticket needed to enter Suleymaniye Mosque and tourist entrance differs from local people. No tourist can enter the building during pray time which is 12:40 to 13:50 on December.

Nice place. Very important for Turkish people. It is still active, so you should being your scarf or to rent one. It is not as important as Blue mosque, but it is in perfect place! Entrance for tourist is different from religious entrance. Entrance is free. There were some construction in May 2017, but still it was worth visiting. I think you can come in until 6 pm but it should be checked. The view is magnificent!

A magnificent building, featuring several technical breakthrus. You should not only go and see the interior and surrounding, but also get informed about several architectural wonders. Just as a start, go see it from across the Golden Horn first, and find out how the great architect Sinan, placed the 4 minarets of 2 different sizes on 4 corners of a square to be viewed equidistant, and heights of each equigradually increase from right to left at that certain point in space. With the beautifully placed dome altogether, displays the Arabic scripture Allah, over the silhuette of the city. Brilliant art!

A big and beautiful mosque, architecture similar to other famous mosques around Istanbul. The place is quite and not very crowded. It has big lawns, toilets, no entry fee. The usual way, avoid payer times as visitors are not allowed during that time.

Yet another beautiful mosque in Istanbul. You can visit the inside but cannot get on the praying area if you are not Muslim. Also don't go in shorts ! It is truly enormous and you can also walk around the mausoleum of the sultan where he and his wife and daughter are buried.

Mosque of the most famous Ottoman Sultan, Suleyman the Magnificent. Wonderful views of Istanbul, the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn.
The mosque itself is quite simple, but like Suleyman himself quite Magnificent. Designed my Master Sinan. With Arabic Clarigraphy inscribed on its many half domes.
Sultan Suleyman's tomb and that of his wife Hurrem Sultan, as well as other family members can also be found in the Suleymaniye Complex.

Amazingly beautiful mosque. Not only the building itself, but also it's location and views.
It was definitely the most interesting mosque I've visited in Istanbul and it is well worth the walk.

Amazingly beautiful mosque, the most beautiful we saw in Istanbul. They had volunteers on site wearing "Ask me" badges, answering questions. Furthermore, it is a "living" place of worship and a wonderful window into a culture different from mine. Best cultural site we did in Istanbul.

Suleymaniye is outside Sultanahmet's touristy atmosphere. It's just outside the Grand Bazaar. I'd recommend that you walk to Suleymaniye near sunset hours and watch the day go by. While you're there also enjoy a local dinner with white beans and plain rice.

Grand and elegant. One of the largest mosque in Istanbul. Amazing how they were able to build these architectural marvels 400 years ago. Offered Maghreb prayer and it was very soothing. The Imam had a wonderful voice.

Peaceful mosque, quieter than the blue mosque. Nice grassy area with shade around the building to sit and relax. Friendly volunteers inside will answer questions about Islam.

This the mosq that we see when we are on the cruise Turyol. Because Of the location of Suley mosque is on the highest point, and it is the biggest mosq.
As beautiful as blue mosq, but not as old.

Currently the biggest mosque in Istanbul until Erdogan's project on the Asia side gets completed. It's massively impressive both outside and inside whether it's the courtyard or inside the mosque itself.
I just visited during Ramadan and there was helpers who offered free information about the mosque and Islam if you want. Even if you visited the Blue Mosque I highly recommend coming here. You can take in the Grand Bazaar on the way.

it feels more like a mosque should (if that makes sense ) quiet cool and awe inspiring. bigger than the blue mosque and we'll worth a visit over the Haga Sofia. volunteers inside willing to talk about the mosque and Islam in general don't miss visiting.
