Coming from someone who have been to the old international airport in Istanbul and to the new one, I have to say I am very impressed. There is not even a base to compare. New, modern but above all extremely clean is what I got taken by. You can find information boards for your flight everywhere. Staff is extremely helpful. Countless amount of duty free stores and food selection that can satisfy even the pickiest of tastes. There is something for everyone out there. You definitely won't be disappointed or bored if you have a long layover and wonder how to pass the time. Extremely happy with my experience.

Incredible piece of engineering! Welcoming, spacious, clean, well lite. You do not feel like you are at an airport! One feels like one is visiting a Five Star shopping mall or a vacation destinations. Turkish airlines and this new airport take the misery out of traveling. Wonderful oasis where 7.5 hours layover feels like a day out on the town. And I am not even going to explain all the wonderful food, how great people are. Turkish hospitality is known around the world. The fastest moving international flights Security checks. When I went through there were probably 30+ scanners working without any crowding, hustle or waiting forever. USA take note how to rebuild infrastructure from this airport, it is truly state of the art!

Excellent airport. Processing is expedient for international transfers. Facility is clean. Many excellent stores and shops. Several food courts. Grand duty-free store. Waikiki offers designer clothing at fair prices. Overall a great experience. Only complaint is that most of the Turkish staff seem rather impatient, but I think they mean well.

The staff are very attentive and courteous. The security checkpoints as well as others are getting disinfected frequently.
It's a huge airport so make sure you have a 15 minute walk planned ahead of your boarding time. There are also buggies that can take you to your gate located at certain points.
There is an app for the airport you can download, very helpful for guidance.
Just a little hint for travellers wishing to get a local SIM card for their phone:
(the amounts and rules change frequently so make sure to get current regulations and prices at the local SIM card provider)
If you arrive at the airport and are planning on getting a local SIM card for your phone, if the phone was not purchased in Turkey, you can only use the phone with the local SIM for a few months.
If you are planning on visiting Turkey often, this would lock your phone out of the local phone network if you try to use a local SIM card again in the future. The moment you place the local SIM card in your foreign phone the clock starts and will block your phone's IMEI number from the system after a few months. For travellers wishing to visit often, it's a better bet to either get a solid international plan, or plan on purchasing a phone from Turkey to use with the local SIM card.
The duty free is amazing. You'll be in for a treat.

Its supposed to be the world's largest terminal under one roof. Gorgeous terminal with really high ceilings and breathtaking design. But I find the furnishings don't fell like as high end as some other top international terminals out there.
Cons:
The world's biggest terminal, but there not a train system connecting any of the gates. You have to navigate through walking, not even a moving sidewalks.
Pros:
Design. Very modern.
Amenities, the BEST Food Court.

Really nicely made airport! Soft waiting area couches lots of small Cafe/restaurants, good toilets/shower, even toilet for the pets and so on Everything in new or excelent quality/standard!

İt's quiet at the airport. Travelling domestically seemed safe as everyone was on masks and for the most part practiced social distancing.

The new airport is a great place very big and clean with lots of famous shops and restaurants its an excellent experience I loved it ❤️
