It is by far one of the best museums I have ever visited and the entrance fee is really cheap. Be there by 15 pm (or check the schedule) to watch the Mehter band. The museum itself comprises a good deal of Ottoman History and modern Turkey issues (such as Cyprus). A big place and a lot to see.

very pleasant surprise.Nice park area around.Even very cheap (but hidden left of entrance-downstairs) cafe with tasty tea and sweets. Very interesting exhibition in Atatuerks classroom and about the Gallipoli-campaign. Surely politically "streamlined",but very interesting pieces from ancient turk nations warfare and good english translations. Very friendly and helpful staff - surprisingly as they look like mainly being conscripts!Dont miss the the concert of the Meder military band in the park daily at 15:00!

The museum is great.
It features nice exhibits. There is a Mehter (Ottoman military band) concert from 15:00 on a daily basis.
Also, the visitors can eat there and enjoy the view.
On the critical side, there are many similar pieces of equipmemt, so there is some redundancy.
Staff is kid friendly so thumbs up.

Military Museum would be interesting to visit. The Mehter band ( the Jannissary Band ) holds concerts there between 15.00 and 16.00 on the days when the museum is open to visitors.

Endless museum with billions of weapons. Very large museum and I recommend. Why 4*? - there was too much of the same weapons.

Great museum about Turkish history, very friendly staff and overall is the museum very well maintained with a huge collection of weapons and other military equipment. 7,50 TL is absolutely worth it

An excellent museum of Turkish history. 7.5TL entry. A huge collection of swords and guns, but also plenty of information about BC wars, Huns, Selçuks, Ottomans, WWI, Turkish War of Independence and more. There is a room dedicated to just Atatürk himself. Stupid rules - costs you 15TL to take photos with an SLR camera, but FREE if you use an iPhone or equivalent - that is what the man behind the desk said to me. Go figure!!

This museum is AWESOME. Staff is very nice, facilities are new and well maintained. But most importantly, the museum has it all in terms of history and exhibits. You can an excellent overview of the history of the Turkish people, from their origins in Central Asia through their arrival in Anatolia. Besides that, the museum is huge, with numerous excellent displays and well documented (almost all with English descriptions available) artifacts and historical events.

The museum features a great variety of weaponry and military equipment. The armor and weapons are almost perfectly preserved. Equipment from various nations are displayed, and the images and models offer valuable historical insight.

İf you're interested in history, you should visit istanbul and this museum must be on your list. Once you visit here, you get a perspective to the Turkish history and many other nations' as well. Get ready to see evidence..

As far as military museums go, this one is very complete.
You get a perspective of Turkish military culture since the times of the Nomad tribes to modern Turkey.
I enjoyed the Turkish point of view of World War I (very different from what European people are used to). Warning, there will be some controversial (to non Turkish visitors) exibits, just keep an open mind.
Most of the pieces have Turkish and English texts.
Visit will take a minimum of 2 hours.
Museum has a gift shop and a bar.

A must go if you are in Istanbul. History is well documented there and there is a very cool military show every day. The museum staff are rather friendly and would help with anything.

Well, too much old stuff for me, roughly 1/8 about "modern" conflict like IWW / Cyprus campaign, so if you´re into it, consider the time to spend here.

About Armenia genocide nothing, just bunch of photos "like Armenian people terrorize Turkish nation".

About all what happen as reaction&revenge for this action I see nothing much to consider.

Ticket price was 7TL.

If U wanna just that heli pics, get in and stay outside just right after gate n.1 and its for free. Also some aircraft, tank and cannons are here on display, outside of building.

One of the best and good organised musaim in istanbul. You can see the chain that was used to close phosphorus by connecting from asian side to europe side in Ottoman times.
