İçeride çoğunlukla bildik hayvanlar var. Haftasonları park sorunu oluyor. aracınızı park edeceğiniz yeri dikkatli seçmeniz gerekiyor çünkü her an aracınızın camı kırılıp hırsızlık olabilir. Aracınızda çanta poşet mutu vs bırakırsanız hırsızlık olma ihtimali yüksek

Her gittiğimizde sürekli hayvan sayısı azalıyor ve keklik yazan yerde güvercin var. Çocuklara ya da bilmeyen kişilerde yanlış öğrenmelere neden olabilir

Summary:
This is a well-funded zoo that desperately needs to invest more into their animals care. I was truly taken aback by the conditions of this well-renowned zoo. Please understand I fully support the concept of zoos as organizations and I have even worked at an AZA-accredited zoo in the United States and was a reptile keeper for a natural history museum for 3 years. With that said, the Gaziantep Zoo either needs major alterations or needs to be shut down. Please see attached photos.
PROS:
It has a surprising diversity of animals.
A large effort was spent on making the zoo a comfortable place to visit: plenty of resting areas, landscaping is well done, lots of places to eat, and even a few train/cars for traveling long distances within the zoo.
CONS (only the most drastic are listed here for brevity):
Their outdoor enclosures for the primates seemed large enough to me, but the indoor enclosures (where they lived when I visited in mid-March) were TINY.
There were multiple unfit pairings of species in the same enclosure such as crocodiles + turtles and a single mandrill + a troop of vervet monkeys.
Several mammal enclosures had countless days worth of feces in them and several bird enclosures were covered in urates.
Many of the snake enclosures in the aquarium building were mislabeled and none of them had a hiding place, which is critical for their well-being.
There were multiple small bird enclosures (I think they were zebra finches) that had had a dead bird at the bottom.
Nearly all of the tropical bird enclosures were at 10ºC (should be within 18-27ºC depending on the species)
Countless different species of birds were losing their feathers (more than just a regular molting).
Many enclosures, especially primates' and the aquarium tanks were entirely overcrowded; many of the fish could barely move without running into one another.
The only employees I saw were the security guards at the entrance. This may just be a difference from American zoos, but I am used to seeing several keepers and educators throughout my zoo visit. Because of this several guests were able to harass the animals freely by knocking on glass enclosures or yelling to/at the animals.
I barely saw any enrichment besides environmental enrichment (like ropes, trees, dens, etc). PSA: Enrichment can be novel objects, scents, creative feeding techniques, mirrors, balls, and much, much more. It is a vital part of zoo animals' lives as it keeps them entertained and also stimulates their minds. It is especially important to the more intelligent animals like the primates and macaws. Can you imagine being confined to your house with no TV, books, radio, or computer?response / report this review -
