Galatasaray High School was founded in 1481 by 2. Bayezid. In 1868, the language of education was decided to be in French. On April 14, 1992 Galatasaray reached another milestone and a new article was added to the Turkish-French cultural agreement dated 1952. Based on this, Galatasaray Education and Learning Institution (GEOK) was established. Galatasaray High School has a capacity of 54 classrooms, two multimedia centres, two art workshops, two music rooms, two meeting centres, one of them 250, the other one with 350 student capacity two meeting centres, one computer lab, one tennis court, three gymnastic halls, one football field, a 15-person infirmary, a 250-person sorority, a 675-seater male student dormitory, and three large dining halls.

In Ottoman times the college was called "Mekteb-i Sultan-i".It is supposed to be the best college in Istanbul. Also the building and its garden is charming. Very characteristic of İstiklal street and one of the best meeting spot nearby.

This is one of major highschool in Turkey. Education is in french. Have and had notable professors specifically in literature. Graduates are nowadays artists, politcs and etc..
