Bulgarian Orthodox Church is an iron church, built in 1898 on the shore of the Golden Horn, Istanbul. There exist three iron church in the world, in Istanbul, Austria and Argentina. The current restauration took 7 years to complete but it is a well done accomplishment. The interior is splendid. This is a religious monument which must be visited by everyone staying in Istanbul.

It is located right on the waterfront near the Patriarchate . It is one if the most intriguing architectural curiosities..the gothic revival cast-iron Church of Saint Stephen of the Bulgars. This was constructed in Vienna, and then shipped down the Danube and assembled here in istanbul.Unfortunatelly because of the road, church has many problems It is a must to see place

A must see place if you're a Bulgarian for its historical importance 🇧🇬 Otherwise also impressive for being built entirely from iron, brought in pieces down the Danube river from Vienna. Calm and quiet, you can rest in its gardens before taking the bus downtown.

December 23rd we decided to take a ferry from central Istanbul up the Golden Horn to Balat, the area that housed the majority of the city’s Jewish population. As we left the ferry at the municipality of Fatih, we immediately found ourselves by the church dedicated to St. Stephen. It is one of two church buildings serving the Bulgarian minority in the city.
